THE UNSEEN PRISON

November 24, 2015 by Ken Blue

Unseen PrisonTHE UNSEEN PRISON
By Ken Blue

There is an unseen prison,
With bolts, chains and bars.
The floor is ever changing;
Despair hides the stars.

The prison holds victims firm;
They lack strength or will.
Human efforts to escape,
Those walls; victor still.

The walls are of fleshly lust,
Ceilings, mans own pride.
Floors crafted of impure thoughts,
Where the captives hide.

No light shines in that dungeon;
Darkness rules that den.
The walls, bars, and the ceilings;
All forged from our sins.

The slaves firmly shackled there,
Despair hour by hour.
Their hope for a full release,
An external power.

Jesus is the unseen Door;
Death, freedoms merit.
His grace sets the captives free;
Led by His Spirit.

There is an unseen prison,
With bolts, chains and bars.
Full pardon is provided,
Written in His scars.

Romans 6:11-16

cigarettes

By Ken Blue

(Note: This poem may help some of you with a

New Year’s resolution)

I started smoking cigarettes when I was fourteen.

I stole them at night from dad’s cigarette machine.

Dennis and I went to the outside can,

And smoked in hopes of becoming a man.

Dad continued supplying his cigarette store.

And me; I continued my stealing more and more.

It finally became a constant routine.

I’d learned to love the taste of nicotine.

To me, cigarettes looked better the more I looked,

And in a few weeks, found myself completely hooked.

Some will never completely understand.

I’d walked a mile to the Marlboro Man.

The cost of cigarettes was twenty cents a pack.

So I begged from others, saying I’ll pay you back.

Twenty’s a lot when you only have a dime,

But I have to feed this habit of mine.

I became a Christian when I was seventeen.

A novice was I, and so, what did it all mean?

I remember it well, what a great day!

But, Winston continued to have his way.

The time had come when I really wanted to quit.

But Mr.Winston loved me too and he threw a fit.

I played at my prayers, knowing what to do.

But my prayers were feigned, and weren’t getting through.

As I read the Book, the more burdened I became.

I was more serious, it’s no longer a game.

As His Word went in, the craving, it died.

Old Mr.Winston found himself cast aside.

If you’re struggling with habits, or an addiction,

And you are sincere in your heart felt conviction.

There is a cure of which you may have heard.

It’s, you can be clean through God’s Holy Word.

If you’re toying with cigarettes, or smoking weed,

Or you have moved up a notch to where you’re on speed.

Read the Bible and pray, you will be heard;

You will find freedom through God’s Holy Word.

THINGS YOU WON’T FIND IN OUR CHURCH

May 2, 2015 by Ken Blue

THINGS YOU WON’T FIND IN OUR CHURCH

Spoof on Standards
you won't find

By Ken Blue

You won’t find a screen with a bouncing ball
Our nose is in the hymnal like the Apostle Paul.
You won’t find drums or a base guitar
Or a piano — like those in honky-tonk bars.

We shun the organ; Luther called it, “The ensign of Baal”
We don’t use sound systems, we scream and yell.
Women don’t wear pants nor do they speak
We like them inferior, feeble and meek.

Power Point and Laptops are taboo and banned
We reject background music it’s carnally canned.
We don’t have air-conditioning or a patted pew
Our people love Jesus and sweat it through.

We don’t use gimmicks to reach God’s elect
Their predestined already, so what the heck.
We don’t serve coffee to the privileged guest
We’re after the chosen and ignore the rest.

We don’t preach sermons on liberty and grace
A good dose of guilt keeps people in place.
Our only ambition is to grow and thrive
All sermons are on soul winning and giving the tithe.

We don’t have television or Bibles on CD
We maintain the standards of A.D. 103.
We don’t have Internet; we reject this modern age
But we hope you do and will access our church’s web page.

THE TRAIN TO HELL

January 28, 2015 by Ken Blue

HELL

By Ken Blue

https://kenblueministries.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/Are-You-Afraid-To-Die.mp3
There’s a train that’s flying on a cold steel rail.

Its only destination is a place called hell.

You got on by choice; you get off the same.

But, as it picks up speed, you don’t complain.

You enjoy the thrill; it winds and descends.

Laughing, you’re joking with your phantom friends.

As the slopes get steeper, and the speed excels,

You’re on a runaway train destined for hell.

The engineer is laughing, so is the crew,

For they have been amused by thousands like you.

All is a blur, as the train seems to fly.

In a moment of time, your life flashes by.

You cry out to God; you want off this train.

Then it stops at a cross that is blood stained.

Jesus steps in, and He bids you flee.

Then the train continues to hells destiny.

As the train left the station, all were having fun.

But they did not know this would be their last run.

So stay off the train that sounds and looks so swell.

It’s a beauty, and a deceiver, and on its way to hell.

IT’S ONLY A SHADOW

valley of death

By Ken Blue

The shadow holds no fear for me.

It’s just a moment in time.

When the Son shines from on high,

It flees, leaving no sign.

The valley’s brief and shallow,

A door to a peaceful land.

And no one walks through alone.

There is One who holds my hand.

Though wild beast may dwell there,

And deep waters rage below,

Thy rod and staff, they comfort,

While my cup, it overflows.

Protected under Your wings,

You will forsake us, never.

Thus I will fear no evil,

And live with You forever!
