HEAD, HANDS, AND FEET, THAT EVEN DOGS WOULDN’T EAT

May 25, 2013 by Ken Blue

jazebelBy Ken Blue

“And they went to bury her: but they found no more of her than the skull, and the feet, and the palms of her hands.” 2 Kings 9:35.

I can’t remember a time when we didn’t own a dog or two. They make great pets, and I enjoyed training and, working with them. Someone has said that a dog is man’s best friend. A good test is to lock your wife and your dog in the trunk of the car. Open it after thirty minutes, and see who is the happiest to see you. You’ll have a greater appreciation for your dog after that experiment.

However, there is a negative side to dogs also.

Dogs can be disgusting much of the time. In fact, there are very few things they will refuse to eat. They are meat eaters, and are attracted to the smell of blood. That is what makes the above text so interesting.

Jezebel may have been the most wicked, and the most corrupt woman who ever lived. I have yet to find any child who was so named by their parents. Her vile nature is also demonstrated in that the dogs refused to eat the spawning ground where her wickedness originated.

The dogs would not eat her skull. It was as if divine providence made it repulsive to them. Her brain was the incubator that hatched every form of wickedness and cruelty imaginable. It was there, she plotted the death of God’s prophets. It was in her immoral and twisted mind she established the worship of Baal. The dogs must have been repulsed at the skull that gave birth to the plot to have righteous Naboth killed, and his land stolen by her wicked husband, Ahab. Thus, against their nature, they refused to eat her wicked skull.

The second thing the dogs refused were her feet. Those feet were too vile for the dogs to stomach. Her feet had walked the path hundreds of times to where the “groves” stood, and Baal was worshipped. Her feet had led the ten tribes of Israel into total apostasy, and to forsake the true God or face death. Those feet led her soldiers to where God’s prophets were in hiding, and she had defiled her feet by having them executed. Elijah was also on her “most wanted” death list.

The third item the dogs could not stomach were her bloody hands. Dogs, who scavenged garbage dumps for any scrap they might find, were repelled at the scent of her vile hands. Those hands had signed, and falsified documents with orders to have the righteous put to death. She had lifted those hands in worship to the idols of Baal. God did not give a record of the extent of the wickedness those hands had committed. The dogs, themselves, testified to her wickedness.

All her wickedness was produced in her perverted skull. It demonstrated itself through her bloody hands and corrupted feet. There is no doubt that God had this text recorded to amplify for us the wickedness of Jezebel. Whatever a dog refuses to eat is indeed beyond description. Thus, the dogs refused to eat her skull, her hands, and her feet.

LET’S STUDY REVELATION # 41

May 23, 2013 by Ken Blue

REVELON BOOK“And the same hour was there a great earthquake, and the tenth part of the city fell, and in the earthquake were slain of men seven thousand: and the remnant were affrighted, and gave glory to the God of heaven. The second woe is past; and, behold, the third woe cometh quickly.”  (Revelation 11:13-14).

One can imagine the great consternation men and women will experience during the next sixty minutes. How would the beast (Antichrist) and his government explain this event? What great reasoning of minds must have plagued the unbelieving nation? However, before they could formulate a believable account for the next news hour, God sent an earthquake that shook the city to its foundations. This gave some added news to cover.

No doubt this is the same earthquake of the seventh vial in 16:17-21. A tenth part of the city fell and seven thousand people were killed. In Elijah’s day, seven thousand were protected from the beast, Ahab, and Jezebel. Here, seven thousand unbelievers who follow the beast were killed in a few minutes.

A remnant of Jews is terrified and they give glory to the God of heaven. This “wakeup call” may have brought about real repentance of some within the city. However, just because one is frightened and calls out to God is not evidence of true heart repentance. We have all heard of “fox-hole” prayers and “jail house” religion. God alone sees the heart and knows who is truly repentant. Matthew 7:21 says, “Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.”

The second woe is the sixth trumpet (v.14), and the third woe, which is the seventh trumpet, is coming quickly.

chapter thirteen

The Scene In Heaven —

The Sounding of the Seventh Trumpet (11:15-19)

“And the seventh angel sounded; and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign for ever and ever. And the four and twenty elders, which sat before God on their seats, fell upon their faces, and worshipped God,  Saying, We give thee thanks, O LORD God Almighty, which art, and wast, and art to come; because thou hast taken to thee thy great power, and hast reigned.  And the nations were angry, and thy wrath is come, and the time of the dead, that they should be judged, and that thou shouldest give reward unto thy servants the prophets, and to the saints, and them that fear thy name, small and great; and shouldest destroy them which destroy the earth.  And the temple of God was opened in heaven, and there was seen in his temple the ark of his testament: and there were lightnings, and voices, and thunderings, and an earthquake, and great hail.”  (Revelation 11:15-19).

T

he scene shifts back to heaven where the seventh angel sounds the seventh trumpet (v. 15). At the sounding of this trumpet, John describes a scene of jubilation and anticipation.

Voices, perhaps, like peals of thunder ring from heaven declaring that the kingdoms of this world have been conquered by Christ and have become His. This forward-looking scene is the fulfillment of God’s promises from Genesis 3:13 to the Second Advent. The kingdoms of this world are, at present, under the dominion and rule of Satan. He is the god of this world as described by Paul. “In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them” (2 Corinthians 4:4). Jesus called him the Prince of this world. (See John 16:11; 12:31; Colossians 2:14-17; Romans 16:20; Revelation 20:10-15.)

It must be understood that the kingdoms of this world do not belong to Christ today, and have not since Adam forfeited them to the Devil. During the temptation of Christ, Satan offered these kingdoms to Him if He would serve him as second in command. He offered Christ a “constitutional monarchy.” Satan would establish the laws and Jesus would endorse and enforce them. He clearly stated that the kingdoms of this world were his and that he could give them to whosoever he would.  (See Luke 4:6.) “And the devil said unto him, All this power will I give thee, and the glory of them: for that is delivered unto me; and to whomsoever I will I give it.”

Jesus did not dispute Satan’s claim. It was true and will be until “the time of the Gentiles” ends. Jesus refused his offer. He knew His Father would give the kingdom to Him in due season. He overcame the temptation offered by the Devil.  He was the Kinsman Redeemer and had the right of redemption as near kin, and the power of purchase. In Revelation 11:15-17, that season has arrived.

Jesus Christ will defeat Satan and reclaim His creation. His kingdom will remain forever. It should go without saying, that the kingdom mentioned here is not the church, the body of Christ. The kingdoms of this earth are political and earthly. The Kingdom of Heaven, over which Christ will rule, is also political and will rule on this earth with Christ as its King.

Israel is the object of God’s affection (vv. 16-17). The twenty-four elders are the same as those in chapter 5:4, and they are a symbolic representation of the governors of Israel. They appear as governors (Deuteronomy 31:28) and local magistrates (Deuteronomy 16:18).  They represent the new government under the new King. They worship the Lord day and night. They serve God and represent Israel before the throne, as long as the nation exists. (See 1 Chronicles 24:1.)

The worship in these verses is in anticipation, and is stated as an accomplished event. The elders are praising God for what He is doing under the seventh trumpet and seven vials. Although it is written in the past tense, the completion is a few days off.   Verses 17-18 says, “…because thou hast taken to thee thy great power, and hast reigned.  And the nations were angry, and thy wrath is come, and the time of the dead, that they should be judged, and that thou shouldest give reward unto thy servants the prophets, and to the saints, and them that fear thy name, small and great; and shouldest destroy them which destroy the earth.”

One may understand the passage by an illustration of a family held hostage. When the police arrive, the people cheer because help and rescue has arrived. If this is not convincing enough, perhaps an illustration from Scripture will do. In Isaiah 53 we read of events as though it were in the past, when in fact they were written over seven hundred years B. C. The acknowledgment recorded in the passage is yet in the future.

The first part of this verse is clarified in Psalm 2. The nations under the rule of the Antichrist spew out their wrath and hatred toward God and His Christ. They fight Him, to the last man, in the battle of Armageddon. Their resistance is vain and He that sits in heaven shall laugh at their attempt.

God’s wrath is poured out during the last three and one-half years of the Tribulation. However, His final wrath is at the Second Advent in Revelation chapter 19:11.

Some commentators think the judgment and the rewards spoken of here are a reference to the Great White Throne Judgment of Revelation 20:11. This, we believe, is not the case. We are told that there will be a judgment prior to the thousand year Kingdom of Heaven. The purpose of this judgment is to destroy Christ’s enemies and to give out rewards to His faithful servants. This judgment is referred to repeatedly in the Gospels, and to the seven churches.

In the Beatitudes, the “meek” inherit the earth. The first installment of that is the Kingdom of Heaven. In the Gospels those who would enter the Kingdom of Heaven are told that they would be rewarded when the King returns. (See Matthew 10:41; 20:8; 24:47; 25:21, 23; Mark 4:24; 10:30; Luke 14:14; Revelation 22:12.)

John sees the temple in heaven (v. 19), with the Ark of the testament inside. The purpose of this vision is to reassure the remnant of God’s faithfulness. They will be able to connect God’s mighty working with the Ark. There are five names given to the ark in the Old Testament.

1.   The Ark of the Covenant. It contained the tables of

the law.

2.   The ark of Testimony. It testified to God’s presence

and holiness.

3.   The ark of God. It was a visible reminder of His

presence.

4.   The ark of God’s Strength. Many mighty works are

connected to it.

5.   The Holy Ark. It was where the mercy seat was

located, and their God met in holiness with Israel.

LET’S STUDY REVELATION # 40

ANTICHRIST KILLS GOD’S TWO WITNESS

 REVELON BOOK

“And their dead bodies shall lie in the street of the great city, which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, where also our Lord was crucified. And they of the people and kindreds and tongues and nations shall see their dead bodies three days and an half, and shall not suffer their dead bodies to be put in graves. And they that dwell upon the earth shall rejoice over them, and make merry, and shall send gifts one to another; because these two prophets tormented them that dwelt on the earth.  And after three days and an half the spirit of life from God entered into them, and they stood upon their feet; and great fear fell upon them which saw them.  And they heard a great voice from heaven saying unto them, Come up hither. And they ascended up to heaven in a cloud; and their enemies beheld them.”  (Revelation 11:8-12).

Dakes Bible note says; Jerusalem is called Sodom and Egypt because of becoming the headquarters of sodomites (homosexuals-Isaiah 1:9-10; Ezekiel 16:46,53) and whoredoms (sex and religious perversions-Ezekiel 23:3,8,19,27) during the last 3 1/2 years the Gentiles control the city (Revelation 11:1-2).  This indicates that sexual and religious perversions will be predominant sins ending this age (Matthew 24:37-39; Luke 17:26-30).

It is interesting that Jerusalem is called “The Holy City” in verse 2, Egypt, and Sodom in verse 8. Verse 2 speaks of God’s estimation of Jerusalem once He begins grafting the nation back into its favored status. (This is the meaning of Romans 11:12-24) Verse 8 declares their spiritual condition during this church dispensation, and at that time in Revelation.

It is possible that Gentiles participate in the rejoicing at the death of these two witnesses because it is the (v.9). Some will have seen the use of television to publicize this event. There is little doubt that those who “dwell” on the earth speak, primarily, of unbelieving Hebrews in the land of Israel. Their reaction reveals the national hatred for Jesus Christ, the Word of God, and moral decency. God will give them blood to drink, for they are worthy!

As always, God is in control. When these two witnesses serve their purpose, the beast (Antichrist) is permitted to kill them. What the beast intended to be a show of power and defiance, God turned into a public display of His greater power over life and death.  Verse 11 and 12 says, “…after three days and a half the spirit of life from God entered into them, and they stood upon their feet… And they heard a great voice from heaven saying unto them, Come up hither. And they ascended up to heaven in a cloud; and their enemies beheld them.”

The restoration to life, the call from heaven to come up, the ascension, and the great earthquake were all public confirmations of God’s power, and His approval of these two prophets. These two witnesses are raptured to heaven at the end of the Tribulation period just prior to the Second Advent of Christ.

It is important to remember that this is not the resurrection or rapture of the church age saints. That event happened prior to Revelation 1:1. The context of this event is Revelation 11:15 where Christ returns to establish His Kingdom. “And the seventh angel sounded; and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign for ever and ever.”

There are at least seven raptures which can be identified in Scripture. We give the seven here:

1.         Enoch was taken and could not be found.

2.         Elijah was caught away in a whirlwind.

3.         Jesus ascended to heaven.

4.         Paul was caught up to paradise.

5.         Believers await the rapture of the church.

6.         The two witnesses of Revelation are caught up to

heaven.

7.         The 144,000 Jews.

WHY WE BELIEVE ANTICHRIST COMES FROM SYRIA

April 26, 2013 by Ken Blue

MapMiddle East_0By Ken Blue

In the book of Daniel we have several accounts of coming world history in relation to Israel. The account in Daniel is from his time to the end of the age. Daniel is shown an image that represented Babylon, Medo-Persia, Greece, and the revised Roman Empire consisting of ten kings. (Dan. 2:37-43).

These same kingdoms are shown again, except they are represented as animals. (8:5-9). The third kingdom in Daniel 2, the breast and arms of silver, is the he goat in Daniel 8. One should note that the he goat, Alexander the Great, conquers the Medes and Persians, and from the head of the he goat comes four horns. These four horns represent the four kingdoms formed in his empire by his four Generals. These four, we know today are Greece, Turkey, Syria, and Egypt. In verse 9, a “little horn” comes out of one of the four horns. The task is to find out from which of the four the “little horn” comes.

In Daniel 11:40, we read, “at the time of the end (the end of this age) shall the king of the south (Egypt) push at him: and the king of the north (Syria) shall come against him like a whirlwind, with chariots, and with horsemen, and with many ships.” See (Dan. 11:40; 8:19; 9:27; 11:35,45; 12:1,7-13).

  •  Dake’s Reference Bible: The vision concerns the very end of the Gentile world powers symbolized by the image of Dan. 2 and the beasts of Dan. 7 and Dan. 8; Rev. 13; 17:8-17. At the time of the end of this age in which we live, “shall the king of the south (Egypt) push at him (that is, the king of the north); and the king of the north (Syria) shall come against him (that is, the king of the south) like a whirlwind” with his armies and navies and conquer many countries (Dan. 11:40).
  •  Dake: the little horn or Antichrist comes from Syria, one of the 4 divisions of the Grecian empire… He thus revives the old Grecian empire, which is symbolized by a leopard (Dan. 7:6; rev. 13:1-2). The other 6 kingdoms of the old Roman Empire submit to him, making him their leader in a war with the north and east (dan. 11:44; rev. 17:12-17). If the wars of dan. 11:5-34 are only between Syria and Egypt, and if the last-day war of dan. 11:40-43 is between Syria and Egypt, ending with the overthrow of Egypt (the king of the south) by Syria (the king of the north), then it settles the question as to where antichrist comes from. He arises from Syria and will fulfill dan. 7:8,19-27; 8:9-14,22-25; 9:27; 11:40-45; 12:1-7; rev. 6:1-8; 13:1-18; 16:13-16; 17:8-17; 19:19-21.

We have quoted extensively from Dake, since we believe he has the best argument for Antichrist coming from Syria. Also, most commentators agree that this is the area he will come from. We are living in exciting days. Christians should be able to see the “unthawing” of the old Roman Empire, and the stage that is being set for new leaders, and a military genius who will be able, with the help of Satan, to conquer and lead his armies against the surrounding nations.

Israel will not only be in the path of the Antichrist and his armies, they will be under his heel. Some believe Israel will make a covenant with the Antichrist. However, he will decide to conquer all the Jews, and establish his headquarters in Jerusalem. “And he shall plant the tabernacles of his palace between the seas in the glorious holy mountain; yet he shall come to his end, and none shall help him.” Daniel 11:45. “The Antichrist, or king of the north (Syria), will make his capital the Jewish temple in Jerusalem between the Dead Sea and the Mediterranean Sea in the glorious holy mountain, Mount Moriah; yet he shall come to an end at Armageddon (Dan. 7:11,26-27; 8:25; 9:27; 2Th. 2:8; Rev. 19:19-21).” Dake’s Annotated Reference Bible. This is where he meets his “waterloo.” Christ will come with His armies, and Antichrist and all his followers will be destroyed. Many nations will acknowledge Jesus Christ as KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.

I believe Christians should be expecting the rapture at any time, and also watching world events as they concern Israel. My hope is that the United States will remain a dependable friend to Israel. “Now the LORD had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father’s house, unto a land that I will shew thee: 2  And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing: 3  And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.” Genesis 12:1-3.

Christians must understand that most of the Bible is not about the Church. Most of the Bible is about God’s Kingdom that was forfeited by Adam, and has been ruled by Satan ever since. God created the nation of Israel to be the one through which Jesus would come as King to reclaim the lost kingdom. This explains why Israel has been Satan’s number one nation to destroy down through the centuries, and that is his number one goal today. But, as we have shown from above, he will not succeed. He and all his followers, led by the king of Syria, will be destroyed at the coming of the KING OF KINGS! The Bible is about that King and His Kingdom. The only doctrinal portion to the church is Paul’s epistles, Romans through Philemon.

PERPETUITY AND HARLOT CHURCHES #1

April 8, 2013 by Ken Blue

harlot churches

By Ken Blue

I am as sure of the perpetuity of the church as I am of the human race. I am here, so there must have been a line of beings from me, back to the first human. I have no way of knowing every link back to my first father, or how many were good or bad men. The Bible is clear that Adam was the first person. From there on, it’s anyone’s guess. I am thankful that God has given me a life to live. I hope I won’t be discounted since I don’t have a chart showing a reliable trail of blood back to Adam.

I also have been associated with Baptist all my life. I was raise in the Baptist south, saved and baptized in a Baptist church, attended two Baptist Colleges, and founded and pastored a Baptist church for over 40 years. Dozens of young men have gone out from that church and started other Baptist churches. (Please remember this paragraph.)

I don’t have many challenges as to my perpetuity back to Adam. But, when it comes to my church, I have taken fire from all sides. There is a little band of Baptist that tell me, if I can’t validate my church perpetuity back to John the Baptist, I have a harlot church, and all the churches we have started are little whores.

Most of the brethren agree that Adam was the father of us all. But, when it comes to the father of the first church, you will not find that unanimity. Some believe it started in Matthew 3. Others see Matthew 16 as the starting point. Still, some claim it was started in the next chapter by Jesus. A majority of Christians think the church was born in Acts 2 at Pentecost. A few see it beginning in Acts 9, with the conversion of Saul. Finally, fewer see its beginning after Acts 28. Regardless of where it started, no one church can prove perpetuity of their local church back to John the Baptist. When it comes to the church, we don’t have the same unity we do with Adam.

Well, the last thing I want is to stand in judgment before the Lord, and be judged for having a harlot church. So, if anyone can prove that the chain from his church back to the original church has never been broken; I am all ears. Now, it will not help me if you believe your church has perpetuity. We need to know how you know the chain was never broken from there to you. If the chain was broken for over one hundred years, were all those who were baptized, or ordained into the ministry valid churches? Or, are these harlot churches? If your church was unknowingly in that line, wouldn’t that break the perpetuity, and invalidate your baptism of all those you have baptized? Can you prove that has never happened in your “so called line of perpetuity?” Of course, you cannot.

“ Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.” 1 Thessalonians 5:21.
