WHY I AM NOT A MORMON

MORMONS ARE NOT CHRISTIANS

Mormons

Compiled byKenBlue

Mormons are not Christians

A Christian is one who has accepted the gospel as presented by Paul in I Cor. 15. He has no other rule for faith and practice. Mormons believe no such thing. They call themselves Latter Day Saints. What they mean by that is that the early church went into total apostasy and that there was no gospel preached until Joseph Smith received his angelic revelation on some golden plates he found under a tree in early 1800. He also needed a special pair of spectacles, provided by the angel, before he could read the plates. The plates contained another Bible, another church, another Jesus, another god, and another plan of salvation. Thus, began the Latter Day Saints.

This is exactly how Islam was founded. An angel revealed the new religion to Mohamed 600 years after the death ofChrist. Mormons also hold in common with Islam the doctrine of multiple wives in this life and in the life to come. Islam has the advantage. The women awaiting them will be 70 brown-eyed virgins. Thus, neither religion is Christian.

“The history of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church) is typically divided into three broad time periods: (1) the early history during the lifetime of Joseph Smith, Jr. which is in common with all Latter Day Saint movement churches, (2) a “pioneer era” under the leadership of Brigham Young and his 19th Century successors, and (3) a modern era beginning around the turn of the 20th century as the practice of polygamy was discontinued.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints traces its origins to western New York, where Joseph Smith, Jr., founder of the Latter Day Saint movement was born and raised. Joseph Smith gained a small following in the late 1820s as he was dictating the Book of Mormon, which he said was a translation of words found on a set of golden plates that had been buried near his home in western New York by an indigenous American prophet. On April 6, 1830, in western New York, Smith organized the religion’s first legal church entity, the Church of Christ. The church rapidly gained a following, who viewed Smith as their prophet. The main body of the church moved first to Kirtland, Ohio in the early 1830s, then to Missouri in 1838, where the 1838 Mormon War with other Missouri settlers ensued, culminating in adherents being expelled from the state under Missouri Executive Order 44 signed by the governor of Missouri. After Missouri, Smith built the city of Nauvoo, Illinois, near which Smith was assassinated. After Smith’s death, a succession crisis ensued, and the majority voted to accept the Quorum of the Twelve, led by Brigham Young, as the church’s leading body.”

Paul said, “I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel: 7 Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ. 8 But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. 9 As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.” Gal. 1:6-9. According to Paul, all Mormons are under God’s curse.

Mormons do not believe any Bible is inerrant or infallible

The Church has 4 Standard Works that are authoritative:  The Bible (in so far as it is translated correctly), the Book of Mormon, Doctrine & Covenants, and Pearl of Great Price.  Speeches and writings of the current president of the church are also authoritative.

Mormons do not believe there is only one God

There are many Gods. Brigham Young-Journal of Discourses 7:333 “How many Gods there are, I do not know.  But there never was a time when there were not Gods.

Mormons do not believe Jesus is God

One of the main fundamentals of orthodox Christianity is belief in the virgin birth of the Savior.  Statements from the LDS church leaders show that they have a different view of Christ.  Bruce McConkie, a Mormon Apostle, teaches in his book, Mormon Doctrine, “Christ was begotten by an immortal father in the same way that mortal men are begotten by mortal fathers.”  (p. 547)  Joseph Fielding Smith, tenth President and Prophet of the Mormon Church claimed, “Christ not begotten of Holy Ghost…He was not born without the aid of Man and that Man was God!”  (Doctrines of Salvation, 1:18).  By worshipping such a being the Mormons fall under the condemnation of Romans one by changing “the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man” (1:23).

Mormons do not believe you can know for sure your are saved

The Bible is full of verses proclaiming the saving power of Christ’s blood that was shed for us on the cross.  Despite all the verses forcefully declaring the importance of Christ’s blood, the Mormon pamphlet found in almost every LDS visitors centers titled, What the Mormons think of Christ, refutes the saving grace of Christ’s sacrifice.  On page 22 we find this written, “Christians speak often of the blood of Christ and it’s cleansing power.  Much that is believed and taught on this subject is such utter nonsense and so palpably false that to believe it is to lose one’s salvation.  For instance, many believe or pretend to believe that if we confess Christ with our lips and avow that we accept Him as our personal savior we are thereby saved.  They say His blood, without any other act than mere belief makes us clean.”

Mormons do not believe one can be saved without accepting Joseph Smith as God’s Prophet. (Sounds like Islam, doesn’t it?)

The Bible teaches that Jesus is the only giver of salvation and that no man cometh unto the Father but by Him (John 3:16 & John 17:6).  The Jesus of Mormonism claims no such authority.  Mormonism teaches that in order to be saved on must believe in Joseph Smith, their founder, as well as believe in their Jesus.  In his book Doctrines of Salvation, 1:189, Joseph Fielding Smith proclaims, “NO SALVATION WITHOUT ACCEPTING JOSEPH SMITH”.  Brigham Young said, “From the day the Priesthood was taken from the earth to the winding up scene of all things, every man and woman must have the certificate of Joseph Smith, Junior, as a passport to their entrance into the mansion where God and Christ are.”  He also said, “No man or woman in this dispensation will ever enter into the celestial kingdom of god without the consent of Joseph Smith” (Journal of Discourses, 7:289).

Mormons do not believe non-Mormons are saved

Orson Pratt (Mormon Apostle)–“..all other churches are entirely destitute of all authority from God; and any person who receives baptism of the Lord’s supper from their hands highly offend God, for he looks upon them as the most corrupt of all people” (The Seer, pg 255)

I could give a dozen other reasons why I am not a Mormon. Need more proof? Let me know. Most of these answers are provided by others.

BABYLON IS NOT ROME NOR THE CATHOLIC CHURCH

June 2, 2011 by Ken Blue

BABYLON AND THE CATHOLIC CHURCH

Babylon

By Ken Blue

“And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues.” Revelation 18:4.

The standard teaching is that the Catholic Church is Babylon, and that God is calling for believers to come out of it. However, nothing could be further from the truth. I have always wondered why those who are opposed to spiritualizing Scripture take such liberty in the book of Revelation, especially with chapters 2, 3, 17, 18.

When the Jews flee in the Tribulation, it will be safer for them in the city of Babylon than in Jerusalem; many will go there for protection. Two things were necessary for this to happen. One, Israel had to be back in their land as a nation, and the City of Babylon had to be rebuilt. Both have happened.

When God said, “Come out of her, my people…” He is speaking a literal city and a specific time. Look at the context of:

  • Jeremiah 51:6 “Flee out of the midst of Babylon, and deliver every man his soul: be not cut off in her iniquity; for this is the time of the LORD’S vengeance; he will render unto her a recompense.”
  • Jeremiah 51:6. “Be in pain, and labour to bring forth, O daughter of Zion, like a woman in travail: for now shalt thou go forth out of the city, and thou shalt dwell in the field, and thou shalt go even to Babylon; there shalt thou be delivered; there the LORD shall redeem thee from the hand of thine enemies.”
  • Micah 4:10. Be in pain, and labour to bring forth, O daughter of Zion, like a woman in travail: for now shalt thou go forth out of the city, and thou shalt dwell in the field, and thou shalt go even to Babylon; there shalt thou be delivered; there the LORD shall redeem thee from the hand of thine enemies. (Read context.)

[pullquote align=”right” cite=”” link=”” color=”” class=”” size=””]Although the Catholic Church practices much of Babylon’s religion, she is but one of the many offshoots.[/pullquote]

  • Jeremiah 50:4-9 In those days, and in that time, saith the LORD, the children of Israel shall come, they and the children of Judah together, going and weeping: they shall go, and seek the LORD their God. 5 They shall ask the way to Zion with their faces thitherward, saying, Come, and let us join ourselves to the LORD in a perpetual covenant that shall not be forgotten. 6My people hath been lost sheep: their shepherds have caused them to go astray, they have turned them away on the mountains: they have gone from mountain to hill, they have forgotten their restingplace. 7All that found them have devoured them: and their adversaries said, We offend not, because they have sinned against the LORD, the habitation of justice, even the LORD, the hope of their fathers. 8 Remove out of the midst of Babylon, and go forth out of the land of the Chaldeans, and be as the he goats before the flocks. 9For, lo, I will raise and cause to come up against Babylon an assembly of great nations from the north country: and they shall set themselves in array against her; from thence she shall be taken: their arrows shall be as of a mighty expert man; none shall return in vain.
  • Jeremiah 51:5-8 For Israel hath not been forsaken, nor Judah of his God, of the LORD of hosts; though their land was filled with sin against the Holy One of Israel. 6 Flee out of the midst of Babylon, and deliver every man his soul: be not cut off in her iniquity; for this is the time of the LORD’S vengeance; he will render unto her a recompence. 7 Babylon hath been a golden cup in the LORD’S hand, that made all the earth drunken: the nations have drunken of her wine; therefore the nations are mad. 8 Babylon is suddenly fallen and destroyed: howl for her; take balm for her pain, if so be she may be healed.
  •  Jeremiah 51:45 My people, go ye out of the midst of her, and deliver ye every man his soul from the fierce anger of the LORD.

Therefore, there is no doubt that the Lord is speaking of literal Jews, and He is calling them out of the literal city of Babylon just prior to its destruction as described in the above text. There is absolutely no thought of the Catholic Church in these verses. The idolatry and wickedness of Babylon was in full existence long before Rome ever existed. If you don’t know that, you haven’t read the Old Testament, or of her influence on all the nations, including Israel. Although the Catholic Church practices much of Babylon’s religion, she is but one of the many offshoots. Babylon is not the Catholic Church.

GO EASY ON HAROLD CAMPING; YOU MUST BE JOKING!

May 21, 2011 by Ken Blue

IS MR. CAMPING A BROTHER IN CHRIST?

CAMPINGBy   Ken Blue

“For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ. 14 And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. 15 Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.” 2 Cor. 11:13-15.

“Then if any man shall say unto you, Lo, here is Christ, or there; believe it not. 24 For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect. 25 Behold, I have told you before. 26 Wherefore if they shall say unto you, Behold, he is in the desert; go not forth: behold, he is in the secret chambers; believe it not” Matt. 24:23-26.

Some who have written to me have suggested that Mr. Camping is a brother in Christ and that we should overlook his teachings and false prophecies. But I cannot and will not. The damage he has done to the cause of Christ is irreparable.

There are thousands around the world who believed him because he claimed what he believed is taught in the Bible. He has made a laughing stock of Christianity. Those who may have had some interest in Spiritual matters will conclude the Bible is not true.

[perfectpullquote align=”right” cite=”” link=”” color=”” class=”” size=””]The damage he has done to the cause of Christ is irreparable.[/perfectpullquote]

Mr. Camping should shut up, close his Bible up, fold his ministry up, and give up all the money he has extorted from others. I expect Mr. Camping to adjust his teaching again to continue his ministry of deception. Some of us know a wolf when we see one, and we know demonic teaching when we hear it. In my opinion, Mr. Camping is both.

My advice is to stop interpreting the Bible from world events, or people who profess to have special insight into the Bible. We need to interpret world events from a correct division and understanding of the Scriptures. You must study it for yourself and learn how to rightly divide it. “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” 2 Timothy 2:15. You are commanded to do this… “That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;” Ephesians 4:14.

No, we will not cut Mr. Camping any slack. He has brought reproach on my Bible, my Savior, my church, and my brothers in Christ. Also, many souls will be lost because of his twisted false teachings.

FALSE PROPHETS AND THE RAPTURE

RaptureBy Ken Blue
On my blog, dated March 5th, I ask the question “Is Harold Camping a False Prophet?” The following is a correspondence between me, and one of Camping’s followers. I ask a simple question, which Mr. “A” was not willing to answer. I post it here so you can see the mindset of this group.

Mr. A: April 18th, 2011 at 2:09 pm. Harold Camping came from a Reformed background. The Rapture cannot happen before May 21, 2011. It shall happen on May 21, 2011, as determined from the Bible. The date for the creation of the earth is 11013 BC. The flood, according to a better understanding of the Bible, did occur in 4990 BC. Yes, the church age ended on May 21, 1988. Scoffers and mockers of Harold Camping can be confused “Christians” such as Ken Blue as well as atheists.

Ken Blue: April 18th, 2011 at 2:32 pm. One thing was noticeably missing from your dates and comments. You did not give or offer one verse of Scriptural proof for your comments. The reason is obvious, you don’t have any. I don’t need to follow Camping to be saved, or believe in the rapture of the church. Camping is a false prophet, and that has already been established. If the rapture does not happen on May 21, I hope you will be Christian enough to contact me and admit Camping is a false prophet and that you were wrong. You should have enough grace to do that. Right?

Mr. A: April 18th, 2011 at 6:31 pm. Anyone desiring biblical evidence for dates and prophecies can investigate literature of Family Radio (Family Stations Inc.) No one can purchase literature from Family Radio. Literature is available online or hard copy, free of charge. Mr. Camping is an unpaid volunteer for Family Radio. He has no financial ties to Family Stations Inc.

Ken Blue: April 19th, 2011 at 10:53 pm. Dear Anonymous, I have read Mr. Camping’s writings and the Bible, and that is how I came to the conclusion that he is indeed a false prophet. My response was for you to give Scripture proving his prophecies. You did not. I ask if you would be Christian enough to contact me and admit that Camping is a false prophet if the rapture does not happen May 21, 2011 and that you were wrong to believe him. You did not answer the question. Do you have an “ace up your sleeve” just in case Camping is wrong? I bet you do.

Mr. A: April 20th, 2011 at 12:51 am. Mr. Blue, Mr. Camping did not claim with absolute certainty that 1994 would be the time of the end. The title of his book had a question mark after 1994. You haven’t proved that Mr. Camping is a false prophet. And please identify which writings of Mr. Camping that you have read. Do you have questions about a scripture which you think Mr. Camping is understanding incorrectly?

Ken Blue: April 20th, 2011 at 1:54 am. Dear Mr. Anonymous, as I supposed, you have been holding aces up your sleeve, and you have some more. Mr. Camping did say the rapture would take place in 1994, and if you don’t know that, you have not read his book. Also, I don’t have to prove that he is a false prophet he has done that himself and is about to do it again. You sure have a difficult time answering the same question I have presented in both contacts. There is something wrong with you when you are afraid to give an answer to the question and then attempt to put me on the defensive. It won’t work. You are not sure the rapture will occur on the date predicted or you would be bold and come forth with a straight answer. You keep those aces up your sleeve; you’re going to need to play them after the twenty-first of next month.

Mr. A: April 20th, 2011 at 10:11 am. Mr. Burns, What is your question?

Ken Blue: April 20th, 2011 at 2:34 pm. Come on, Ace; you know my question. It was in my first and second response to you. Go to your first response to my web page and you will see your comment and my question.

Mr. A. April 21st, 2011 at 5:35 am. “May The Lord Find Us Faithful”………..By Mac Lynch
God has not given us the spirit of fear,
But has given us the strength to obey.
With power and sound mind, with love the unfailing kind,
Oh, be not a-shamed of His way.

[perfectpullquote align=”right” cite=”” link=”” color=”” class=”” size=””]There was no response from Mr. A afterward[/perfectpullquote]

[Chorus]

May the Lord find us faithful,
May His word be our banner held high
May the Lord find us faithful,
Everyday tho’ we live tho’ we die.

No man that seeketh after things of this life,
Is a soldier, who passes the test.
Be faithful, be working, be running, be serving,
Be searching His word for His best.

Living or dying may honor be Thine
From this wretched life, You loved and forgave.
A life that’s on fire, be only our heart’s desire,
Be faithful from now to the grave

Ken Blue: April 21st, 2011 at 8:47 am. Ace, based on your last response, I must assume you really do not remember my question, or you are simply playing another one. The question was, “If the rapture does not happen on May 21, I hope you will be Christian enough to contact me and admit Camping is a false prophet and that you were wrong. You should have enough grace to do that. Right?” Is there some reason you fear to give a yes or no answer. If the rapture takes place, and you are saved, you won’t have to answer. If it does not you should boldly step forward and admit you were misled and Camping is a false prophet. There is nothing difficult to understand about the question. However, your reluctance to answer is, reveals that you are not honest.

There was no response from Mr. A afterward.

BAPTIST BRIDER AND HIS CREDIT CARDS

May 7, 2011 by Ken Blue

WHY DOES A BAPTIST BRIDER CARRY CREDIT CARDS TO TOWN?

brider

By Ken Blue

“These twelve Jesus sent forth, and commanded them, saying, Go not into the way of the Gentiles, and into any city of the Samaritans enter ye not: But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. And as ye go, preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand. Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give. Provide neither gold, nor silver, nor brass in your purses, Nor scrip for your journey, neither two coats, neither shoes, nor yet staves: for the workman is worthy of his meat. And into whatsoever city or town ye shall enter, enquire who in it is worthy; and there abide till ye go thence. And when ye come into an house, salute it. And if the house be worthy, let your peace come upon it: but if it be not worthy, let your peace return to you. And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear your words, when ye depart out of that house or city, shake off the dust of your feet. Verily I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom and Gomorrha in the day of judgment, than for that city.” Matthew 10:5-15.

There are a few Baptist Briders who teach that the church, the body of Christ, had its beginning in Matthew four with the ministry of John the Baptist. They are bold enough to teach that the church today is the same church we find in the Gospels, and that Jesus was baptized into its membership by John. It, they claim, is the model church, and preached the same gospel we preach today. There are many problems with this teaching and no Baptist of any variety follows it.

First, the people to whom the church was sent were Jews only. These Baptist preachers were not permitted to go to any Gentiles. Is this the pattern for the church today? You would expect the brider to go first to the Jews in their city as their church was commanded by Christ.

The proclamation or message of this brider church was different from that preached today. I have never heard a Baptist preacher say, “repent for the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand.” Why this change of message? What happened to this “Kingdom of Heaven” message? Is the Baptist Brider ignoring the people to whom it was sent, and the proclamation given to it?

The power of the Baptist Brider church has also disappeared. “Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give.” Matthew 10:8. The Baptist Church of today doesn’t have the power to heal the common cold. To hear Baptist speak of the church today being the church of yesterday is a joke. Have you ever seriously considered why the church today is not like the church of the Gospels? While many are defending their denomination, it might be wise to pause and think on these things. No Baptist church is “healing the sick, cleansing the lepers, raising the dead, or casting out devils. Many of them are casting out the sick, and raising the devil!

The provisions were limited. “Provide neither gold, nor silver, nor brass in your purses,
Nor scrip for your journey, neither two coats, neither shoes, nor yet staves: for the workman is worthy of his meat.” Matthew 10:9-10.

One can see what these Baptist preachers were not permitted to take with them. They were to depend completely on God’s care and provision. Have you seen any preacher follow this order? Most preachers travel with three suitcases, a laptop, and Iphone, and a wallet full of credit cards. What happened to the Baptist pattern and why?

Note the peril of cities that rejected these Baptist Preachers. Is the fate of all cities in the hands of Baptist Briders? I hope not.

Those who claim the church in the Gospels was a Baptist Brider and the pattern for Baptist churches today, have a real problem when attempting to obey the above. Why do they not follow the New Testament pattern? They can’t. So, don’t take your cards to town, Bill!
