LET’S STUDY REVELATION # 31

LOCUST FROM HELL

“And he opened the bottomless pit; and there arose a smoke out of the pit, as the smoke of a great furnace; and the sun and the air were darkened by reason of the smoke of the pit. And there came out of the smoke locusts upon the earth: and unto them was given power, as the scorpions of the earth have power. And it was commanded them that they should not hurt the grass of the earth, neither any green thing, neither any tree; but only those men which have not the seal of God in their foreheads.  And to them it was given that they should not kill them, but that they should be tormented five months: and their torment was as the torment of a scorpion, when he striketh a man.  And in those days shall men seek death, and shall not find it; and shall desire to die, and death shall flee from them.” (Revelation 9:2-6).

 

These cannot be literal locusts (vs.-3) for locust, as we know them, have an aversion to fire and smoke. However, these live in that inferno which darkens the sun. These are unlike any locusts this world has ever seen. They have power in their tails to sting as scorpions and they have no interest in the green grass or the trees. They overlook those with the seal of God in their foreheads and torment only those men without it.

No doubt there is a connection to Ezekiel 9:4-6 concerning these seals, “And the LORD said unto him, Go through the midst of the city through the midst of Jerusalem, and set a mark upon the foreheads of the men that sigh and that cry for all the abominations that be done in the midst thereof. And to the others he said in mine hearing, Go ye after him through the city, and smite: let not your eye spare, neither have ye pity: Slay utterly old and young, both maids, and little children, and women: but come not near any man upon whom is the mark; and begin at my sanctuary. Then they began at the ancient men which were before the house.”

 

The assignment of the locust is to torment men and women for five months. Their torment is described as the sting of a scorpion. Anyone who has ever been stung by a scorpion can imagine the agony these must endure day and night for five months. The pain will drive men mad.  Those who are stung will seek death and will not find it. Satan said of Job, “all that a man hath will he give for his life.” Here, all that a man hath, he would be willing to give for death.

There will be other believers on the earth at this time besides the 144,000. The question is will they suffer these torments along with the wicked. Will these torments be local within the kingdom of the beast or are they universal? It is my belief that it will be within the kingdom of the Beast. It will be known in their day. It is also possible there is another seal of God besides the one on the 144,000

 

 “And the shapes of the locusts were like unto horses prepared unto battle; and on their heads were as it were crowns like gold, and their faces were as the faces of men. And they had hair as the hair of women, and their teeth were as the teeth of lions. And they had breastplates, as it were breastplates of iron; and the sound of their wings was as the sound of chariots of many horses running to battle. And they had tails like unto scorpions, and there were stings in their tails: and their power was to hurt men five months.  And they had a king over them, which is the angel of the bottomless pit, whose name in the Hebrew tongue is Abaddon, but in the Greek tongue hath his name Apollyon.”  (Revelation 9:7-11).

 

These verses give additional details of these demonic mutations. Their shape is as that of horses prepared for battle. They have counterfeit crowns, as and like gold. Their faces are as men (hardened) and hair as women (long). They have sharp teeth as lions. Their breastplates are of iron. The sound of their wings as chariot horses running to battle. They are an imitation of the living creatures in chapters 4 and 5.

 

They have a king over them, which makes them unlike the locusts of the earth. Proverbs 30:27 says the locusts of this earth, “…have no king, yet go they forth all of them by bands.” This king is called the angel of the bottomless pit, whose name in Hebrew is Abaddon, and in Greek, Apollyon. His name means a destroyer. We are told the name of this king, and that his domain is the bottomless pit. If he is not the Devil himself, he is his servant and leads this mighty army. He may be that spirit-beast which enters the Antichrist, who comes from the pit at the three and one-half year point of the Tribulation.

 

The following two “woes” compose the contents of the sixth and seventh trumpets.

SPURTS AND EXPERTS

Dr. Tom Malone was my pastor and professor while I was in College. I remember him saying that an “Expert is just any little spurt away from home.” I have met many of these in my journey, and on occasion, I have been mistaken for one. What I have learned is that the real experts are those who agree with me. How about you?

 

One thing I do know for sure is that no one is an expert in Bible hermeneutics until they learn to apply the following command of Paul in his Pastoral Epistles. “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” 2 Timothy 2:15. For those of you who want to play word gymnastics, the Greek word is. ὀρθοτομέω which means to “…make a straight cut, i.e. (figurative) to dissect (expound) correctly (the divine message) :- rightly divide.” Strongs.

 

We must know how to rightly divide the different ages, dispensations, times, seasons, customs, idioms, Jews, Gentiles, the covenants, the testaments, churches, times past, present time, times to come, Israel’s last days of prophecy, the last days of this church dispensation, kingdom of heaven, kingdom of God, Peters apostleship, Paul’s apostleship, why God saved and commissioned Paul, the doctrinal section of Scripture, the practical section of Scripture, who is speaking, who is being addressed, the sign on the door, and the difference between interpretation and application.

 

The above is a good place to start. One can be saved and get “a blessing,” without knowing these, but no one is an “expert” in handling the Word of God until he can dissect these correctly. If you cannot identify the historical books of the New Testament, from the church epistles and the Jewish epistles, and from within these, find the three transitional books therein, you are not equipped for serious Bible teaching.

 

Now, I have said all this, in order to say the following. Those who fail to see that the ministry of Jesus Christ was to the Jews only, can’t possibility give a correct interpretation of Scripture. “Now I say that Jesus Christ was a minister of the circumcision for the truth of God, to confirm the promises made unto the fathers:” (Romans 15:8). To argue that the four Gospels describe the birth of the body of Christ, and that the rapture of the body of Christ is taught therein, is a colossal failure to rightly divide the Word of God.

 

Christmas is just a few days away. I am sure you could use some spending money. I will give $100.00 to the first person who can prove that the rapture of the church, revealed to Paul, is taught in the Gospels. Don’t get self-righteous on me. Just show us, and collect.

CAN HOMOSEXUALS GO TO HEAVEN?

“Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, 10 Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God. 11 And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.” 1 Corinthians 6:9-11.

I am aware of the debate as to whether this passage is speaking of heaven or the Kingdom of Heaven on earth. We will leave that decision to others. Now, lest I be misunderstood, let me say I believe homosexual sin is the sickest sin on earth. I am also aware that Paul speaks of a generation that God “gave up.” However, according to the above passage, He must not have given up on individual homosexuals, for the text says, “Such were some of you.”

The questions we ask is can a practicing homosexual go to heaven, or enter the kingdom? If the answer is that they cannot, and I am not suggesting they can, then we must be consistent and ask about the others in the same list. Can the people in your church who are shacking up go to heaven? What about those who commit adultery, those who rob God, those who get drunk, the  railer, or those who cheat on their income tax? What if those in the list are saved and backslide, are they still saved?

What was the sin greater than that of Sodom?

“And thou, Capernaum, which art exalted unto heaven, shalt be brought down to hell: for if the mighty works, which have been done in thee, had been done in Sodom, it would have remained until this day. 24 But I say unto you, That it shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom in the day of judgment, than for thee.” Matthew 11:23-24.

What does verse 24 mean?

I can hear your criticism, now for your answer.

WHICH IS RESPONSIBLE FOR MORE DEATHS, GUNS, DRUGS, OR ALCOHOL?

Several police officers who have been members of the church that I pastored for years told me that if we would eliminate alcohol and drugs, it would reduce the crime rate in America by at least 80%. Almost every crime involving a gun, involves alcohol or drugs. Why go after the guns? Why not go after the alcohol and the drugs. Could government income have anything to do with not putting a stop to them? Sell the sucker the drugs and drink, and get his money. Then wait until he breaks the law and get his money again. Tax it and then fine those who use it! That’s the game. If that doesn’t work, put them in jail or prison so your state can demand more federal tax dollars.  Crime is big business, and not just for the “criminals.” Only fools with an agenda, believe guns are the cause of crime. Thus, you can expect them to EXPLOIT, EXPLOIT, AND EXPLOIT every crime or accident that involves a gun. We might take them seriously, if they would add the rest of the story, which involves alcohol and drugs. Until then, we view them as a bunch of HYPOCRITES. You’re welcome.
