TO LOVE OR HATE THE SINNER?

TO LOVE OR HATE THE SINNER?

HAVE YOU HEARD THIS NEW AND NOVEL TEACHING?…THE TEXT

Having lived 80 years and studied the Scriptures over 60 years, I never cease to be amazed at the new and novel teachings that come out every month. One such teaching is that God hates the sinner. The teaching is that the only place God loved the sinner was at the cross. Thus, God hated sinners before the cross and He hates them now. The Scripture cited to prove the hate doctrine is “The foolish shall not stand in thy sight: thou hatest all workers of iniquity.” Psalm 5:5. “These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him:  A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief, A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.” Proverbs 6:16-19. However, the teaching that God hates sinners is not only false; it leads to greater mischief and division within the body of Christ.

IF GOD HATES SINNERS, DOES IT JUSTIFY OUR HATRED TO BE GOD-LIKE?

I have witnessed several who have fallen for the hate doctrine. Their attitude reflects their false teaching. Their preaching and teaching shows their contempt and disdain toward the lost. However, if God hates sinners, it only stands to reason that to be God-like, we too must hate the sinner. That is the conclusion many who embrace the hate doctrine have come to and do manifest.

HOW IT IS RESOLVED…? THE USE OF THE WORD “HATE.”

The word “hate” is used many times throughout scripture. Perhaps a look at some of them will help us understand its use.

See the example of Jacob hating Leah. “And when the LORD saw that Leah was hated, he opened her womb: but Rachel was barren.” Genesis 29:31. Dake says, “To hate” is an idiom of preference, not hatred as we understand it. See note, Lk. 14:26. “Hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple.” Luke 14:26 [An idiom of preference].

The example of Jacob and Esau and the nation of Israel long before the cross. “The burden of the word of the LORD to Israel by Malachi.  I have loved you, saith the LORD. Yet ye say, wherein hast thou loved us? Was not Esau Jacob’s brother? Saith the LORD: yet I loved Jacob, and I hated Esau, and laid his mountains and his heritage waste for the dragons of the wilderness.” (Malachi 1:1-3). Dake notes. Lk. 14:25-27, not a term expressing personal malice or jealousy in the sense we’re familiar with. This is the sixth of twelve cases in Scripture where God made the choice of the younger over the older brother. Here it was because of the disposition and attitude toward Him. Esau was a fornicator and destitute of hunger for God in his life (Heb. 12:16-17), while Jacob was the type that loved the Lord and hungered to do his will.” (Not a term expressing personal malice or jealousy in the sense we’re familiar with.

The example of the rich young ruler. “And he answered and said unto him, Master, all these have I observed from my youth.  Then Jesus beholding him loved him, and said unto him, One thing thou lackest: go thy way, sell whatsoever thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, take up the cross, and follow me.” (Mark 10:20-21.) We can safely assume that if Jesus loved this sinner, so did God the Father.

The example of direct statement that God loved us while we were yet sinners. “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:8.)

The example of hating father and mother. “If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple.” Luke 14:2. a [hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple] An idiom of preference (Mt. 6:24; 10:37; Rom. 9:13; Mal. 1:2-3; Gen. 29:30-31; Dt. 21:15-17). One must prefer God or love Him more than all else to be saved (Mt. 22:37). “God first” is the motto of the Bible.”

DO THESE EXAMPLE DESTROY THE FALSE TEACHING TO HATE THE SINNER?

Anyone who will not hear the Word of God and rightly divide it will never be persuaded no matter the proof. We have quoted both Hebrew and Greek scholars. We have shown passages of Scripture that flatly destroy the hate doctrine. Will the argument convince those who embrace that false teaching? Perhaps not. However, we are witnessing the damage this false teaching is doing to the body of Christ. It causes those who teach it to display anger and hatred toward the lost. It fosters a spirit of superiority and pride, and it is a false doctrine no Bible believer should embrace or teach. It should be rejected by all willing to rightly divide the Word of God. Why would God tell us to love enemies and pray for then, if hates them? “ Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy.  But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;  That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.  For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same?  And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? do not even the publicans so?  Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.” (Matthew 5:43-48)

ALL WILL FIND THEIR MATE

May 25, 2016 by Ken Blue

NOT ONE BIBLE PROPHECY WILL LACK THEIR MATE.

mateIsaiah 34:16…… Seek ye out of the book of the LORD, and read: no one of these shall fail, none shall want her mate: for my mouth it hath commanded, and his spirit it hath gathered them.

In this video sermon Dr. Blue teaches us how God works through His book, the bible.  He shows us how important reading and living by the Bible is.  Explaining the uniqueness of the Bible, he encourages and admonishes us to keep in this most basic building block of the Christian life.  Not only does it reveal salvation’s plan, but it shows how important it is because it holds specific prophecies that are looking for their fulfillment.

In Isa 34:16 God tells us to: “Seek ye out of the book of the LORD, and read…”.  Dr. Blue explains how amongst all of the false translations, God’s book needs to be sought out. This unfortunate situation exists because the Devil attacks the foundation of Christianity.  This way, he can completely destroy a Christian by making him collapse without a foundation to stand on.  That foundation is the Bible.  Since the Devil cannot be rid of God’s book, he confuses everyone by flooding the market with many alternatives for the Christian to choose from.  Some have subtle differences, while others are vast.  Buying a different bible is not a wickedness, it is an act of ignorance.  The book og the Lord must be sought out.

Modern scholarship tries to tell you that at one time there was a complete bible, but today there is none.  The Bible says that there IS a book that is called the Book of God and God promised to preserve it (Psalms 12:6-7)  Since we believe that God is much stronger than any scholar, we do not let the scholars tell us what the Bible says.  We use the Bible to tell us about the scholars.

[pullquote align=”right” cite=”” link=”” color=”” class=”” size=””]The major evil in professing Christianity is the neglect of the reading of the Word of God.[/pullquote]

There is a book that is perfect.  Gen 5:1; Deu. 17:18; Psa 40:7  If God reveals his word to us it is most logical to reveal it in a book. People have been taught that all Bibles contain the word of God but this is not true.  Sewers may contain a dime but that doesn’t make it a bank. The Bible was written to be read and many Christians neglect reading it.  The major evil in professing Christianity is the neglect of the reading of the Word of God.  People are not changed without the changing of their minds.  Self help and psychology books will not help.  Reading the Bible is the only thing that will help.  The Greatest Christians who ever lived said that no good thing dwelt in them.

COULD IT BE YOUR PREACHING

February 13, 2016 by Ken Blue

Change Your Preaching

child preachingA young pastor lamented to me that his church was not growing no matter what he did. I ask him, “What kind of sermons do you preach?” He said, “I rip their face off.” I said, “Can’t you just see this man at work on Monday, and someone asks, ‘what happened to your face?’” He said, “This is what I got at church Sunday, want to go with me next Sunday?”

Church members do not want to bring visitors to church where the pastor attacks the Bible they might have, attacks other religions they might belong to, or tells everyone they are out of the will of God if they don’t attend the midweek or Sunday evening service. Not only do member refuse to bring visitors, they too are reluctant to come back.

I told the young man that he needed to change his preaching. Make people feel welcome and that YOU care about them. Make the service time enjoyable and informative. You cannot reach people you turn off. The gospel is the good news. Preach it as the best news in the world. It is. God loves sinners, and sinners know if your church is a loving church. Dip the Sword in honey. It will still cut.

[pullquote align=”right” cite=”” link=”” color=”” class=”” size=””]People should leave the preaching service with a sense of God’s presence and love.[/pullquote]

Church is not a place where pulpits are coward’s castles. Everything should be exciting and alive fifteen minutes before you preach, and people must project the image of love and friendliness. Most people make up their mind in the first ten minutes if they are going to return. Everything about your church should be planned with the visitors in mind. That includes everything from the driveway to the bathrooms.

People should leave with a sense of God’s presence and the love of the people. If that happens, they are more likely to return. Ripping their face off will guarantee they never return.

So, my advice to young preachers is, evaluate the content of your message, and the spirit with which it is delivered. If people are not returning something is wrong. Find out what it is and fix it. Start with your preaching and the spirit in which you preach.

SATAN AND HIS ANGELS

January 21, 2016 by Ken Blue

SatanDr Blue does a fantastic job of explaining the difference between angels, demons, devils and Satan.  He spends time examining the different possibilities from where they came from.  I was surprised at the amazed as I listened to him teach about the various teachings of scholars.  Giving Bible verses to support his beliefs, Dr. Blue does not leave us to wonder what he thinks about the spiritual war that man finds himself subjected to.  He explains why many people today shy away from the subjects of: hell, the Devil, devils, fallen angels and Satan.  They simply don’t know their powers and charge.

Dr. Blue tells of the war between satan and the Lord for control of this planet.  The fighting rages because Satan, although knowing the Bible, still believes that this world belongs to Him.  This explains the audacity that Satan has in asking Jesus to worship him when he tempts Jesus after His fast in the wilderness.  So, the end objective is known to us because God reveals it to us in His word, but Satan does not believe it.  And here is the crux of the battle.

Dr. Blue shows how Jesus looks on hell as being the “universal garbage dump” and gives Bible verses to support this truth.  He shows how Jesus likened Gehenna to the lake of fire and that it is to be the final place of torment for the Devil and his followers.  He further shows how a follower of Satan is doomed to experience the same fate of their master.

Watching this video will open a person’s eyes to the world around them and give them comfort in their relationship with Jesus Christ.  It will teach the patient viewer that the only way to defeat Satan or his followers is to put on the WHOLE armor of God.

If you have been beleaguered with thoughts of spiritual darkness, this video will set straight your resolve to stand in this world.

The Last Sermon of Jesus

December 1, 2015 by Ken Blue

Last Sermon of JesusDr. Blue speaks about the last public sermon of Jesus.  He explains that Jesus is emphasising, and finally putting on the capstone of what He has been trying to teach Israel for the previous three years. It is the uppermost thing that is on the Lord’s heart.

Dr. Blue explains that Jesus is trying to teach Israel that they cannot believe in God without believing in Him as well (Matt. 10:40).  He knows that they need to understand the unity between Jesus and the Father. He has been trying to teach them about the absolute unity of Jesus and God.

Dr. Blue shows us from the Bible that God is invisible 1 Timothy 1:17, but if you believe in Jesus, then you believe the Father.  If you see Jesus, then you have seen the Father.  If you have touched Jesus, then you too have touched the Father (John 12:45).

Dr. Blue expertly shows us how Jesus further wants them to understand that He is the word which has always been (John 1:1).  In Him was life and it has always been available to man.  When man died he lost it, but Jesus came to give it back to those who would accept it.

Why is Jesus so urgent about people understanding this?  Because He wants the unbelieving crowd to be saved (John 12:46).
