REAL REVIVAL

October 6, 2009 by Ken Blue

By Ken Blue

The Evangelist came to church,
With a scream and shout.
“If you want real revival
You must throw these out.”

“The television, it must go,
It is vile and mean.
Especially the satellite,
And the wide flat screen.”

Next, went my beloved laptop,
The net, and email.
“That invention’s of the devil,
And came straight from hell.”

Reluctantly, I tossed my clubs;
Guns and fishing reel.
I’ll get rid of this Iphone.
Now, revival’s real!

I think I’m rid of everything.
It’s all out the door.
Now, obeying all speed limits;
I ask, “Is there more?”

I want revival in my heart,
And love Jesus more.
And so, I thought it had happen.
All was out the door.

Another stepped to the plate,
Anointed from above.
And the content of his message;
Extolled Jesus’s love.

Revivals not in excitement;
Nor is it the shout.
It’s not the top blowing off;
It’s self falling out.

It’s not a white sepulcher,
Nor a shining cup.
It’s opening your heart inside;
Let Him fill it up.

Revival means loving Jesus,
Cause He first loves me.
And letting Him control my life,
In the Spirit, free.

I want revival in my heart,
Emptied of all pride.
Revivals not a surface work,
It’s God’s work inside.

WHAT IF…?

September 23, 2009 by Ken Blue

By Ken Blue

“And the LORD said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job…?” Job 1:8.

What if, in one day, all your children died?
What if, in your grief, your faith your spouse did chide?
What if, in your darkness; God’s face He turned aside?

What if…?
Just, what if…?

What if, in that day, all income was lost?
What if your home was gone; you couldn’t pay the cost?
What if sickness struck you, and Jordan soon you’d cross?

What if…?
Just, what if…?

What if God’s face on your life ceased to shine?
What if all your friends said the fault was all thine?
What if in your misery, comfort you could not find?

What if…?
Just, what if…?

What if God said, “All was a test for you”?
What if Gods plans and intent, you already knew?
What if you have sore trials today, how will you do?

What if…?
Just what if…?

THE GAME

September 5, 2009 by Ken Blue

THE GAME
By Ken Blue

“And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the
called according to his purpose.” Romans :2.

I was viewing life as a game;
Opponents, against me, all.
To win, I had to be skillful;
Be wise or I’d take the fall.

Each person was viewed a challenge;
Each one, a potential threat.
Always, on my vigilant guard;
The advantage I must get.

Everyone was out to defeat me;
Cleverly I planned with speed.
Words spoken had selfish motives;
Each act; a crafty deed.

Then I realized life’s no game;
I’m led by a loving hand.
It’s not our winning or losing;
It’s a providential plan.

All things, together are working.
Together, they work for good.
His love for us never changes.
His plan is now understood.

GOD IS GOOD; BUT SOMETIMES I WONDER

August 15, 2009 by Ken Blue

GOD IS GOOD; BUT SOMETIMES I WONDER
By Ken Blue
(Read Psa. 73)

“God is good to all who walk upright”, but this truth was not confirmed in my sight.
The wicked prosper; their strength is firm; while the righteous suffer lives infirmed.

They have no fear of the judgment time; pride adorns them, while mocking the Divine.
“There is no knowledge in the most High”, boast the rich, ill prepared to die.

“Is God really good?” a voice asks of me; have I cleansed my hands in vanity?
I’m plagued every day, morning till night; still they prosper, while not doing right.

I turned to God and the Bible in prayer; He opened my eyes, the truth was there.
Judgment awaits their wicked schemes; and earthly pursuits are only a dream.

He was always with me, holding my hand; guiding by grace, wherein I now stand.
None in heaven or earth I desire; await Your call to come up higher.

God is good! There’s no mystery now, my affections were misplaced, and here is how.
I envied the rich and their ease of life; and brooded through my days of strife.

God is indeed good! Let us draw nigh; reading His Word and His name glorify.
God is good to the just and unjust; walking by faith, His wisdom I’ll trust.

The first shall be last in earthly quest; all will vanish in their moment of death.
God is good, there’s no wondering now; He works His plan, His Word explains how.

FACES

July 23, 2009 by Ken Blue

-FACES-
By Ken Blue

The congregation was seated; everyone was in his place;
And just before the sermon, I saw a message on each face.

Here sits a woman with cancer, her illness, known to none;
Perhaps I’ll ease her fears, by exalting God’s suffering Son.

There are many families here from far and distant lands;
Jesus too was a stranger, their rejection, He understands.

Others have no income, unemployed, they are poorly fed;
Jesus identifies with them. He had no place to lay His head.

Here are lonely seniors, who will return to an empty home;
May I assure them, Jesus will never leave them alone.

To my right, a single mother, with three children in her care;
May I reassure her, of a loving family here.

There’s a girl with a secret, she’s too ashamed to make it known;
May this congregation help her, and never cast a stone.

Here I stand, an inept preacher, with needy souls filling this place;
May this sermon meet those needs, seen today on every face.
