MEN AS TREES

December 20, 2010 by Ken Blue

         By Ken Blue

From my window I could clearly see,
Among the forest, the tallest tree.
It was more majestic, than those around,
Defying the gust that will bring it down.

At its foot, a twig of green I saw,
Searching for light; it’s strength to draw.
As I mused upon that imposing tree
A puzzling question was perplexing me.

What’s the purpose of the tree that’s down,
And that green twig breaking through the ground?
Is there a purpose in these to be found;
As this same cycle goes round and round?

Then I remembered Who made all these;
The earth and the sky, the beast and seas.
He had a special purpose for all these,
Specially the creation of the trees.

Some are for beauty for man to view.
Some are for shelter from heat and dew.
Some provide food for mankind to survive;
One’s for salvation, on which Jesus died.

That tree I see swaying in the sod
Serves its purpose for a loving God.
As from my window I pondered these;
I could hear the words, “I see men as trees.”

I’M JUSTIFIED

December 12, 2010 by Ken Blue

By Ken Blue

A man took the old black book.
It shinned new light on my way.
I was only seventeen;
Never gonna forget that day.
Because I’ve been justified;
Washed in the blood of the Lamb.
I’m a new creation,
And I know whose I am.
I know whose I am.
Won’t go back to the old life;
Because I’ve lived there before.
Not gonna answer evils call,
Seeking entrance at my heart’s door.
Gonna read the old black book;
Finding life on every page.
Gonna tell everyone I meet,
Like me also they can be saved.
Because I’ve been justified;
Washed in the blood of the Lamb.
I’m a new creation,
And I know whose I am.
I know whose I am.
My mind’s set on things above,
Where Christ sits at God’s right hand.
My mind’s fixed upon His Word,
As He creates a brand new man.
Because I’ve been justified;
Washed in the blood of the Lamb.
I’m a new creation,
And I know whose I am.
I know whose I am.

ZION’S HILL

December 7, 2010 by Ken Blue

By Ken Blue

The heathen imagine a vain thing against the Anointed King.
“Let us break their bands asunder,” is their common theme.
He who sits in the heavens shall laugh; having them in derision.
“I’ve set my king on Zion’s Hill; that’s My decision.”

“I will declare the final decree; the LORD hath said unto Me.
Thou art my Son, and this day have I begotten Thee.
Ask of Me and I will give Thee sovereign rule of sea and land.
Thou shalt rule them with the rod of iron in Thy right hand.

“Be wise now O ye kings, be instructed ye judges, every one.
Serve the LORD with fear and trembling, and Kiss the Son.
Blessed are they who put trust in him; His promises He’ll fulfill;
To all who come and worship Him, there on Zion’s Hill.”

PSALM TWENTY-TWO

November 24, 2010 by Ken Blue

By Ken Blue

“Why hast thou forsaken Me?” was the mystery cry.
“Our fathers trusting in Thee, and found You were nigh.
“While trusting Thee, they were delivered,
They called and were set free.
Mine enemies said; ‘let’s watch, and see’.”

“Gentiles compass me about, as wild, raving beast.
The assembly pierced my hands, my side, and my feet.
My cry for water went unheeded.
For my clothes; they cast lots.
Be not far from helping me; Thou that changeth not.”

“In resurrection power, the LORD will deliver me.
In the midst of My brethren, yet, will I praise Thee.
Praise Him all ye seed of Israel.
Jacob, glorify Him.
Those who seek our GOD; He will save them.”

Nations will acknowledge; all kindred’s worship thee.
The Kingdom is the LORD’S; their Governor He will be.
“An eternal seed shall worship You.
The righteous shall come;
Declaring boldly, what GOD hath done.”

INTROSPECTION

September 29, 2010 by Ken Blue

By Ken Blue

Some say, “You’ve achieved much from your humble beginning.”
But, upon introspection, I wonder who was winning?

Was it all for Christ alone; would I have served for naught?
Or, did I expect earthly gain to be my selfish lot?

In college days did I consider my faithful wife?
Or, were dreams of accomplishments about me and my life?

Did my visions blind me as one who slumbered and slept?
While helping those with their needs, my own vineyard went unkept.

Was it concern for the lost; I labored through the night?
Did my ego play a part in our children’s lonely plight?

My heart is wicked, I cannot know it; though inside.
Was my work for Jesus alone or driven on by pride?

Judgment will try all our works; rewards will make all known.
May He find in my work, some gold, silver, and precious stones.
