Daniel saw the “little horn” that took power from the ten kings and noted his ardent blasphemies against God.  “I considered the horns, and, behold, there came up among them another little horn, before whom there were three of the first horns plucked up by the roots: and, behold, in this horn were eyes like the eyes of man, and a mouth speaking great things” (Daniel 7:8). (See verses 11, 20-25; 11:36-45.) His big mouth will be shut!

He is permitted to continue his reign for three and one-half years, after which, the Lord Jesus Christ will come and take the kingdoms of this earth to Himself. This fact is repeated throughout the book of Revelation. (See also Daniel 12:7; 11:12:6, 14; 17:10.)

“And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, (Jews) and to overcome them: and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations. And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.  If any man have an ear, let him hear.  He that leadeth into captivity shall go into captivity: he that killeth with the sword must be killed with the sword. Here is the patience and the faith of the saints.”  (Revelation 13:7-10).

  • “No man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, name, or number (Rev. 13:17). On the surface it might seem that these statements prove Antichrist will be a world ruler, killing all on earth who do not take his mark, name, or number. But, the contrary is true because “all” in these passages is simply a figure of speech — synecdoche — in which a whole is put for a part, as we would say, “Everyone in town,” or “the whole country.” If the United States would make a law that “all men” of all nations, and tongues must register on a certain day or be killed, we would naturally understand the law to apply only to all people of all nations and tongues who are under the government of the United States, not to the people of these nations and tongues who are under other governments. The word “all” is used in a limited sense hundreds of times in Scriptures (Gen. 6:17; Josh. 6:21-25; 2Sam. 6:5,15; 1Ki. 11:16-17; Mt. 3:5-6; Lk. 2:1-3; Rom. 1:8; 10:18; Col. 1:23; etc.). Dake’s Annotated Reference Bible: Containing the Old and New Testaments of the Authorized or King James Version Text.

The events here are at the three and one-half year point in the Tribulation. The Antichrist has been at war with the surrounding nations for the first three and one-half years and has ruled from Babylon (Isaiah. 14:4-17).  After he conquers the ten nations within the old Roman Empire and establishes his own kingdom, the eighth, (“And the beast that was, and is not, even he is the eighth, and is of the seven, and goeth into perdition” (Revelation 17:11), He moves his capital from Babylon to Jerusalem. There he desecrates the temple, defies the God of heaven, and seeks to destroy all who serve God and Jesus Christ.

He turns his hatred on the Jewish saints within his kingdom, especially those in Jerusalem. He is permitted to overcome them and all others within his kingdom. (See verses 15, 16; Daniel 7:21; 8:24; 11:35-45; 12:1, 7; Matthew 24:15-22.) These passages confirm that the Jews are the objects of the Antichrist’s wrath, and that his activities will be confined to the area of the old Roman Empire.

LET’S STUDY REVELATION #48

 REVELON BOOK

(The Jesus of Mormonism, is an entirely different person, as official publications clearly reveal.  The Mormon ‘Savior’ is not the second person of the Christian Trinity, since Mormons reject the Christian doctrine of the Trinity, and He is not even a careful replica of the New Testament Redeemer.  In Mormon theology Christ, as a pre-existent spirit, was not only the spirit brother of the devil (as alluded to in the Pearl of Great Price, Moses 4:1-4 and later reaffirmed by Brigham Young in theJournal of Discourses, 13:282), but celebrated his own marriage to ‘Mary and Martha, and the other Mary,’ at Cana of Galilee, ‘whereby he could see his seed, before he was crucified’ (Apostle Orson Hyde, Journal of Discourses, 4:259; 2:82).   The Mormon concept of the Virgin Birth, alone, insults God and distinguishes the Mormon ‘Christ’ from the Christ of the Bible.) “And they worshipped the dragon which gave power unto the beast: and they worshipped the beast, saying, Who is like unto the beast? who is able to make war with him?”  (Revelation 13:4).

We have discovered that the dragon is Satan, and that all the Gentile heads derived their power from him. It has always been Satan’s ambition to receive worship and total power. He will have that for a brief time through a man who will sell himself completely to him and Judas did. Satan will receive worship through the one willing to represent him. By worshiping the one, they ignorantly worshiped the other.

That man is called:

Antichrist (1 John 2:18).

  1. Assyrian (Isaiah 10:20-27; Isaiah 30:18-33; Isaiah 31:4-32:20; Micah 5:3-15).
  2. King of Babylon (Isaiah 14:4).
  3. The little horn (Daniel 7:8, 24; Daniel 8:9,23).
  4. The King of Fierce Countenance (Daniel 8:23).
  5. The Prince that shall come ( Daniel 9:26-27).
  6. King of the north (Daniel 11:5-45).
  7. Man of sin (2 Thes. 2:1-12).
  8. Son of perdition (2 Thes. 2:1-12).
  9. The Wicked (Isaiah 11:4).
  10. That Wicked (2 Thess. 2:8-12).
  11. The Beast (Daniel 7:11; Rev. 13).

The image of a seven-headed beast is formed from the masses, and is a “snapshot” of all seven kingdoms in one picture. They do not exist simultaneously, yet, except in the vision and in character. This is illustrated in the vision of Nebuchadnezzar.  “Thou, O king, art a king of kings: for the God of heaven hath given thee a kingdom, power, and strength, and glory. And wheresoever the children of men dwell, the beasts of the field and the fowls of the heaven hath he given into thine hand, and hath made thee ruler over them all. Thou art this head of gold. And after thee shall arise another kingdom inferior to thee, and another third kingdom of brass, which shall bear rule over all the earth. And the fourth kingdom shall be strong as iron: forasmuch as iron breaketh in pieces and subdueth all things: and as iron that breaketh all these, shall it break in pieces and bruise. And whereas thou sawest the feet and toes, part of potters’ clay, and part of iron, the kingdom shall be divided; but there shall be in it of the strength of the iron, forasmuch as thou sawest the iron mixed with miry clay. And as the toes of the feet were part of iron, and part of clay, so the kingdom shall be partly strong, and partly broken. And whereas thou sawest iron mixed with miry clay, they shall mingle themselves with the seed of men: but they shall not cleave one to another, even as iron is not mixed with clay.” (Daniel 2:37-43).

At the time of Nebuchadnezzar’s vision only one head was in existence – Babylon. The other three, Medo-Persia, Greece, and Rome, came years later. The vision in the book of Daniel did not reveal the two heads which preceded Babylon, but they are seen on John’s beast: Egypt and Assyria.

The beast which existed in John’s day, while he was on the island of Patmos, was the 4th, kingdom in Nebuchadnezzar’s vision. The same kingdom is the 6th head on John’s vision.

“And the beast which I saw was like unto a leopard, and his feet were as the feet of a bear, and his mouth as the mouth of a lion: and the dragon gave him his power, and his seat, and great authority. And I saw one of his heads as it were wounded to death; and his deadly wound was healed: and all the world wondered after the beast.” (Revelation 13:2-3).

Scripture is clear that there are evil angels behind each of the seven heads who are also classified as beasts. In the Book of Daniel we see that angels rule over the kingdoms of men. They represent them and fight battles for them. While Daniel was in prayer, an angel came to strengthen him and inform him that God had heard his prayers. He would have arrived sooner, but was hindered by an evil angel (beast) called “the Prince of the kingdom of Persia.” Michael, the archangel, who represents God’s people, Israel, was sent to aid the angel (Daniel 10:13, 21).

After further encouragement, the ministering angel told Daniel that he must now go and continue his fight with the prince of Persia. Furthermore, he said, the prince of Grecia would come soon after he departed (Daniel 10:20). These are angelic creatures who are the unseen princes of the Gentile kingdoms. They too are seen a “beast.”

Dake says concerning this prince, “The prince of Grecia is the satanic ruler prince of the Grecian Empire that caused Alexander the Great to be so successful in 13 years as to destroy the Medo-Persian Empire completely. This prince of Grecia is the spirit now confined to the abyss who will come out in the last days and cause the human Antichrist to revive the old Grecian Empire, so that they all can oppose Jesus Christ at Armageddon.”

As the kingdoms of this world were destroyed, God restrained these satanic angels to different confinements. Some were confined in the EuphratesRiver; others were assigned to the pit (Revelation 9:1-3, 14; 11:7). One of the princes, which come out of the pit, is the angelic prince of Grecia, and is called a beast (Revelation 11:7; 17:8).

This beast will empower the Antichrist. He will make war on the two witnesses and kill them. It is this Grecian beast that will be raised from the pit, whose deadly wound was healed, and will lead a revised Roman Empire, through the Antichrist.

The Antichrist’s kingdom is symbolized by the leopard to show its swiftness; the bear shows its cruelty; and the lion shows its dominion and power. The whole kingdom was energized by Satan.

One should note that the dragon also has seven heads and ten horns. This shows how interconnected Satan and his earthly kingdoms are. The Antichrist has great power and authority. These are delegated to him by Satan and directed by the beast, the prince of Grecia, from the pit.

The Antichrist will take over the ten kings, and their kingdoms within the boundaries of the old Roman empire, and thus acquire their wealth and their armies. He will rule with absolute power and will be a military dictator. Those under his leadership will see him as invincible and believe that no power can conquer him. How wrong they are.

“And there was given unto him a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies; and power was given unto him to continue forty and two months. And he opened his mouth in blasphemy against God, to blaspheme his name, and his tabernacle, and them that dwell in heaven.”  (Revelation 13:5-6).

WILL THE TWELVE APOSTLES BE RESURRECTED IN THE TRIBULATION?

NEW SONG: Fair Weather Friends

By Ken Blue

“But when they persecute you in this city, flee ye into another: for verily I say unto you, Ye shall not have gone over the cities of Israel, till the Son of man be come.” Matthew 10:23.

There is no doubt that the context is about the Tribulation just prior to the Second Advent. There is nothing about the church, the body of Christ in the setting.

There will be a remnant of Jews who will believe that Jesus is their Messiah. (See Isaiah 53:1-9) This remnant may be a group that will understand Isaiah 53 and other similar passages. The remnant could also be the sealed 144000. However, if we are consistent with the literal interpretation of the text, we must conclude that this refers to the Twelve Disciples. They were the ones He was addressing. That means that somewhere in the Tribulation, they must be resurrected. Also, the text demands that they will be in their natural bodies as was Lazarus. (See also Matt. 9:24, 10:8, 27:52; Mark 5:35; Luke 7:12, 22; Acts 20:9.)

We are sure that those who were raised were not in glorified bodies. If that is true, each one had to enter a physical death again. That leads to the conclusion, that the Twelve could be raised like these described above. They would continue the ministry given to them at the First Advent.

The Lord is assuring them that His coming will be quick and sudden. They will not have covered all the cities of Israel before He returns to deliver them. In the meantime, they were assured of persecution, and admonished to get out of any city that sought to kill them. A living dog is better than a dead lion.

It will take the wars of the Antichrist to bring the nation to its knees. The spectacular events surrounding The Second Advent will result in the conversion of many nations. Thus, the text is one of assurance to the Twelve.

LET’S STUDY REVELATION # 47

REVELON BOOK

The Two Beasts and the Dragon Chapter 13:1-18

I

n chapter 11 we saw a beast come up from the pit and kill the two witnesses. In chapter 12 we were introduced to the “remnant” of Israel under the sign of a sun-clad woman with twelve stars, which crowned her head. In addition, Satan was introduced with the sign of a seven-headed red dragon and was cast out of heaven to the earth. In chapter 13 we are given greater details about “The Beast.”

We remind our readers that the title “beast” was not only given to the beast of the field such as, cattle, sheep, lions, etc.; but also, to angels, men, and their governments. When this title is applied to man and governments, it always has a negative connotation.

“And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns, and upon his heads the name of blasphemy.”  (Revelation 13:1).

Keep in mind that wars are raging between the nations within and surrounding the old Roman Empire. John gives the imagery of a seven-headed beast rising up from a body of water. However, we know that the beast is not a sea monster, nor is the sea a literal body of water. A beast, as we have said, is at times, a mortal man, a group of men or their governments.  The sea from which the beast arises consists of the Gentile multitudes. (See 17:15.)

The title “beast” is used interchangeably between a person or persons and their kingdoms. This beast, which comes from the masses, is a man who takes over the kingdom that has been formed by an alliance of ten kings within the boundaries of the old Roman Empire. That kingdom, consisting of the ten kings, must exist before the man designated “the beast” can rise to power. The ten kings comprise the seventh head on the beast.

This man rises to power through his craft, deceit, lies, and the aid of Satan. Through his diplomacy, he will over-throw three kings and capture the allegiance of the other seven. He is called “the little horn” and comes up after the ten horns were fully-grown. He will overthrow three of the ten because they resist him. He is the Antichrist who comes to full power in the days of the ten kings. He will overthrow three of them, and the others will submit to him without further resistance (Daniel 7:8, 23-24; Revelation 17:11-17).

Commentators are not in agreement as to who or which governments are represented by the seven heads. We have stated, that we believe they are:

1.   Egypt

2.   Assyria

3.   Babylon

4.   Medo-Persia

5.   Greece

6.   The Old Roman Empire

7.   The Ten Kingdoms that are yet to be formed inside the Roman Empire (Daniel 7:23-24).

Just as Daniel was given a view of the four world empires in one image, with the ten kings represented by the ten toes, so John is given a vision of seven heads, comprised of the seven Gentile powers who have persecuted Israel. These are given in the form of a single beast with the eighth head coming from within it.

“And the beast which I saw was like unto a leopard, and his feet were as the feet of a bear, and his mouth as the mouth of a lion: and the dragon gave him his power, and his seat, and great authority. Remember therefore how thou hast received and heard, and hold fast, and repent. If therefore thou shalt not watch, I will come on thee as a thief, and thou shalt not know what hour I will come upon thee. And I saw one of his heads as it were wounded to death; and his deadly wound was healed: and all the world wondered after the beast.” (Revelation 13:2-3).

John describes the likeness of the Antichrist’s new composite government as a leopard with feet like a bear and the mouth of a lion. Daniel gives the same description of these governments and tells us who they represent. He informs us that the lion represented Babylon, the bear represented Medo-Persia, and the leopard represented Greece.

Some commentators believe the leopard symbolizes the United States. They reason that its white underside represents white people, and that the black spots symbolize integration of blacks. Further arguments are given for this theory, but we forbear.  Several writers point out that the spots on the Antichrist’s kingdom symbolize its wickedness in contrast to Jesus, God’s Lamb without spot.

Williams says, “The Wild Beast will be the fourth beast of Daniel 7 and will exercise the power of the Grecian, the Persian, and the Babylonian kingdoms; signified by (verse 2) the leopard, the bear and the lion.” He further says, “The future will reveal the meaning of   verse 3.”

Tim LaHaye comments on this verse by taking the reader to chapter 17. He says, “… they represent five kings to the time of John; the sixth, Domitian, a Roman king at the time of John, he then skipped forward to the time of the seventh head, Antichrist.” He continues, “Others suggest that these are the seven phases of the Roman type of government through which the non-descript beast, which represents Caesarean imperialism, passed. In either case the whole animal represents a bestial kingdom that will be in the dominant control of the earth during the Tribulation.”

William McDonald says, “They combine the features of the four beasts of Daniel in 7:3-7.”

Dr. John Walvoord says, “…the final world ruler gathers into his power all the power of the preceding rulers and their territory…eventually becomes ruler of the entire globe, something that had never been accomplished before.”

Dr. Ruckman says, concerning verse 3, “One of the heads of the beast is cut off, and wounded. It is Nimrod (King of Babel), Pharaoh (King of Egypt), Sennacherib (King of Assyria), Nebuchadnezzar (King of Babylon) or Cyrus (King of Rome). One of these heads is ‘wounded to death’ and the ‘deadly wound was healed.’ One of those nations that was cut off is going to revive and take over.”

John Phillips says, “…this is evidently a reference to the revival of the Roman Empire as it will be in its final form.”

Dake believes the “beast” empire is ancient Greece. It is described as a leopard and a bear. He says both were symbols of ancient Greece.  Greece is first symbolized by brass in Daniel 2:39b, “… and another third…”

It seems reasonable to stay with the Scriptural designation of the leopard as given by Daniel. He was told that the leopard symbolizes the Grecian Empire. (See Daniel 7:6.) In Daniel 7:6 the leopard has four heads. The four heads symbolize the four divisions of the Grecian Empire after the death of Alexander, as do the four horns of Daniel 8:8, 22-23. Heads always symbolize kingdoms. (Daniel 8:20-23; Revelation 17:9-11.) This kingdom is mentioned in Daniel 2:32,35,39,45; 7:6,17; 8:5-25; 10:20; 11:3-45; Zechariah 8:13.

Alexander the Great died at age 33. After his death his kingdom was divided between his four generals. The four kingdoms formed out of his empire are known today as Greece, Turkey, Syria, and Egypt. The Antichrist, we believe, comes from Syria.

The leopard symbolizes the Grecian Empire, which was one of the seven heads on the beast-vision, which John saw.  Satan, who is here called “the dragon,” energized the whole beast from its inception to its destruction. One should note that the dragon is also said to also have seven heads and ten horns. This shows how unified Satan and his beast kingdoms are. They are inseparable.  The Antichrist has great power and authority. Satan delegates these to him.

John says one of the “heads” on the beast had received, “as it were,” a wound to death (v.3). Now the question is which head was, “as it were wounded to death”? Dr. Ruckman said that we are forced to choose from the list. Was it Egypt, Assyria, Babylon, Medo-Persia, Greece, the old Roman Empire, or the 7th that made up the 10 kingdoms that are yet to be formed inside the Roman Empire? Some commentators believe the wounded head is Rome. Others believe it to be the Grecian empire. It seems more likely that it is the Grecian Empire, since it is from that head the Antichrist comes. This will be covered in more detail when we come to chapter 17.

“And they worshipped the dragon which gave power unto the beast: and they worshipped the beast, saying, Who is like unto the beast? who is able to make war with him?”  (Revelation 13:4).

DOES ISRAEL HAVE A SECRET NUCLEAR OR LASER WEAPON?

October 4, 2013 by Ken Blue

laser

bomb

By Ken Blue

“And this shall be the plague wherewith the LORD will smite all the people that have fought against Jerusalem; Their flesh shall consume away while they stand upon their feet, and their eyes shall consume away in their holes, and their tongue shall consume away in their mouth.” Zechariah 14:12.

Jerusalem will be the last “burdensome stone” to stand in the way of a one-world peace under the Antichrist. The Jews, who know their Scriptures and their God, will not submit to the Antichrist or his world armies.

We can see the scene being set within the area of the old Roman Empire for the need of a world leader. The nations will conclude that the only hope of a lasting world peace is the removal of Israel. The Jews will be the last “hold out” in this peace process.

An army will consist of “peace keepers” out of every nation. They will be taken over and led by a man that is Antichrist. When it appears that all hope for any Jew to survive is gone, one of the most spectacular events this world had ever witnessed will happen. It is described in the above text.

For those of you who are skeptics and scoffers at the Bible, I ask you to take a long hard look at the text. The above concept could not have been conceived by anyone over 2000 years ago. Today, no one doubt’s its meaning, or possibility.

Now, it is possible that the very presence of God will be the nuclear or laser energy.  It may be a secret weapon that Israel has, and they may be His instrument to destroy these armies. I am not concerned about the “how” of this event. My point is to assure everyone that God has the program and the power well under control, and to show how “up to date” the Bible is.

Don’t let your heart be overly troubled about what you see in world events. These things are necessary in order to purge the earth, and to show the world that God is faithful to His promise to Israel through Jesus Christ. This event will lead to many nations acknowledging that the God of the Bible is LORD.
