INTERPRETATION VS APPLICATION

January 19, 2015 by Ken Blue

INTERPRETATION VS APPLICATION
Application

“… nor handling the word of God deceitfully…” 2 Corinthians 4:2.

Interpretation is the explanation of exactly what the text meant when it was written. It must include the historical, doctrinal, dispensational and prophetical meaning of the text. One cannot be loose and opinionated when seeking the true interpretation of a passage. He must be guided by the rules of biblical hermeneutics, rightly dividing the Scriptures, knowing what is literal, and what is symbolic. Interpretation is one thing; application is something altogether different.

[pullquote align=”right” cite=”” link=”” color=”” class=”” size=””]Application is imperative, but it must conform to the doctrine of the dispensation we are in today.[/pullquote]

There is no way to measure the damage done to believers through faulty application. The above picture illustrates this. This slight-of-hand is done when the preacher chooses a text and then preaches a topic or subject that has absolutely nothing to do with the chosen text. This art is so cleverly done that the average Christian thinks the text actually teaches what is being taught. No doubt, in some cases, the preacher thinks so himself.

Examples of this are seen when a text is read and then the preacher preaches his own preferences, church tradition or denominational views. You can identify this when he veers off to subjects like, how Christians should dress, what music they can listen to, what music and musical instruments can be used in the church and the sin of using Power Point. They think the Bible is opposed to promotions and special events to reach the lost. There is no end to the “do not’s” from this crowd. They think the Scriptures actually support their teaching on these and other like subjects. It does not!

Application is imperative when preaching, but all application must conform to the doctrines of the dispensation we are in today, and to the Scriptures. To do otherwise, is to handle the Word of God deceitfully for one’s own ends.

My advice is that one listen intently and test all preaching by this dispensation of grace to ensure that he or she is not being controlled or misinformed by a pastor who uses the Bible for his own ends rather than teaching exactly what it says. Remember, the marks of a cult are to use the Bible to control his followers.

A DOCTRINE MORMONS WISH WOULD GO AWAY, THE BLACK RACE

November 8, 2013 by Ken Blue

MORMON MARK PETERSEN

(DNA VS. THE BOOK OF MORMON)

By Mark E. Petersen
“At Brigham Young University, Provo, Utah, August 27, 1954, at the Convention of Teachers of Religion on the College Level, Petersen delivered a speech on “Race Problems –As They Affect The Church”. The speech outlined the religious underpinnings of segregation, and supported the continued practice of segregation as it related to intermarriage between blacks and whites…In April 1944, while serving as general manager of the Deseret News, Petersen was called to be a member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles.” From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.
• We must not allow our feelings to carry us away, nor must we feel so sorry for Negroes that, we will open our arms and embrace them with everything we have. Remember the little statement that they used to say about sin, “First we pity, then endure, then embrace.”
• Is there reason then why the type of birth we receive in this life is not a reflection of our worthiness or lack of it in the pre existent life? We must accept the justice of God. He is fair to all. With that in mind, we can account in no other way for the birth of some of the children of God in darkest Africa, or in flood ridden China, or among the starving hordes of India, while some of the rest of us are born in the United States? We cannot escape the conclusion that because of performance in our pre existence some of us are born as Chinese, some as Japanese, some as Indians, some as Negroes, some as Americans, some as Latter day Saints. There are rewards and punishments, fully in harmony with His established policy in dealing with sinners and saints, rewarding all according to their deeds.
• In this birth control effort man places himself in direct opposition to the plan and laws of God. The Almighty made this world, and He made us. All human beings are His children, His spirit offspring, and it is His intention to provide each one of us with a body of flesh and bones. This body is essential to eternal progress. With this in mind He gives us the powers of procreation and permits us to join with Him in a divinely sponsored act. But by preventing or aborting legitimate births, we oppose this plan. His spirit children are born into bodies of flesh and bones by His own design. Then who are we to prevent it?
• Some who have been perfectly healthy and able to bear children have avoided this responsibility, and in doing so have resorted to the use of harmful practices and devices resulting often in physical injury to the wife and demoralization to both parties. Some have wondered if the Church would approve such practices. Of course it never has and never could.
• I think the Lord segregated the Negro and who is man to change that segregation? It reminds me of the scripture on marriage, “what God hath joined together, let no man put asunder.” Only here we have the reverse of the thing—what God hath separated, let no man bring together again.
• From this and other interviews I have read, it appears that the Negro seeks absorption with the white race. He will not be satisfied until he achieves it by intermarriage. This is his objective and we must face it.
• Now what is our policy in regard to intermarriage? As to the Negro, of course, there is only one possible answer. We must not intermarry with the Negro…
• What is our advice with respect to intermarriage with Chinese, Japanese, Hawaiians and so on? I will tell you what advice I give personally. If a boy or girl comes to me claiming to be in love with a Chinese or Japanese or a Hawaiian or a person of any other dark race, I do my best to talk them out of it… I teach against inter marriage of all kinds.
• Now let’s talk about segregation again for a few moments. Was segregation a wrong principle? When the Lord chose the nations to which the spirits were to come, determining that some would be Japanese and some would be Chinese and some Negroes and some Americans, He engaged in an act of segregation.
• When he told Enoch not preach the gospel to the descendants of Cain who were black, the Lord engaged in segregation. When He cursed the descendants of Cain as to the Priesthood, He engaged in segregation.
• Who placed the Negroes originally in darkest Africa? Was it some man, or was it God? And when He placed them there, He segregated them.
• The Lord segregated the people both as to blood and place of residence. At least in the cases of the Lamanites and the Negro we have the definite word of the Lord Himself that he placed a dark skin upon them as a curse as a punishment and as a sign to all others. He forbade intermarriage with them under threat of extension of the curse. And He certainly segregated the descendants of Cain when He cursed the Negro as to the Priesthood, and drew an absolute line. You may even say He dropped an Iron curtain there.

FIRST IMPRESSIONS

CHANGING TIRES

 #2

(MORMON SCIENTIST DISPROVE MORMONISM THROUGH DNA, AND THE LACK OF LINGUISTIC,AND ARCHAEOLOGICAL EVIDENCE.)

Not far from our church is a Les Schwab Tire store. Our family has done business with them for years, and we have found them to be true to their slogan, “If We Can’t Guarantee It, We Won’t Sell It!”®

The first thing that impresses you when you park in their lot is the young man who hurries to greet you as you get out of your car, and ask “how he may assist you?” He is quick to answer your questions and escort you to those who can help.

The first time I saw similar service in a Baptist church was in Anchorage, Alaska. When we parked, a young man greeted us as we opened the car door, welcomed us, and introduced us to one of the church ushers.

Since first impressions are lasting, perhaps we should give this act of hospitality some consideration. I wonder what first impression it would make on our guest if a church member opened the car door for them, warmly welcomed them, and walked to the church entrance with them? I was just wondering, since it’s all about the service.

TEN FALSE TEACHINGS OF THE ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH

July 31, 2013 by Ken Blue

Roman Catholic Heresies.

By Ken Blue
mary standing on a snakeRoman Catholic Heresies stand greater in number than Hindu religion practices of idol worship. This is concerting given the fact that Hindus have more gods than people.  Also, it is impossible to show anyone their errors when they have multiple authorities. As soon as you show one their error, they shuttle off to another authority. The one verse that would help Catholics understand the Bible is, “ Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” 2 Timothy 2:15. But, of course, they won’t read it. They trust their church more than they trust the Bible, or God.

You will notice in the above picture, Mary stands on the whole world, and crushes a serpent under her feet. Also, the light to the world comes from her hands, and there are twelve stars around her head. This is one of the greatest abuses of Scripture anywhere on earth. First, the woman in Genesis 3 is not Mary, but the nation of Israel. Revelation 12 shows her again as the nation of Israel. Anyone who can, and will read the context will see that there is nothing in either text about Mary. This Roman Catholic Heresy of worshipping a female deity goes far beyond the Catholic Church. It goes back to Babylon in the book of Genesis.

  1. No idols. “Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: 5  Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me; 6  And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.” Exodus 20:4-6.
  2. Call no man father. This is in the spiritual sense. “And call no man your father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven.” Matthew 23:9.
  3. Praying to the saints. “Abraham saith unto him, They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them. 30  And he said, Nay, father Abraham: but if one went unto them from the dead, they will repent. 31  And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead.” Luke 16:29-31. The Bible is to be read for answers. No one contacts the dead
  4. Mary not a mediator. “For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;” 1 Timothy 2:5.
  5. No purgatory. “… the rich man also died, and was buried; 23 And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.” Luke 16:22-23. Purgatory is an invention of the church to get money from grieving souls. There is no purgatory. You go straight to heaven, or straight to HELL.
  6. No praying for the dead. “…“Abraham saith unto him, They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them.” Luke 16:29. The living are instructed to go to the Bible for answers.
  7. Peter, married, not a pope. “ But Simon’s wife’s mother lay sick of a fever, and anon they tell him of her.” Mark 1:30. Peter disappears after Acts 15. Wonder where he went?
  8. No such thing as transubstantiation. “When Jesus knew in himself that his disciples murmured at it, he said unto them, Doth this offend you? 62  What and if ye shall see the Son of man ascend up where he was before? 63  It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life. 64  But there are some of you that believe not. For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were that believed not, and who should betray him.” John 6:61-63. A piece of bread never becomes the flesh of Jesus Christ, nor does a sip of hooch become His blood.
  9. Perpetual virginity. “I am become a stranger unto my brethren, and an alien unto my mother’s children. 9  For the zeal of thine house hath eaten me up; and the reproaches of them that reproached thee are fallen upon me.” Psalm 69:8-9.
  10. Use of holy water. For proof, see Job 1:1
