ARE THEY LOST OR ARE THEY SAVED?

ARE THEY LOST OR ARE THEY SAVED?

Comments on 1 Cor. 6:9

“Observe here, 1. Our apostle’s positive assertion, and categorical proposition, That the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God; whereby unrighteousness, is meant injustice and injuriousness towards our neighbour, as appears by the context, which speaks of defrauding: unrighteousness will as certainly shut out of heaven, as ungodliness.

Observe next, The large catalog of sins which the apostle reckons up, that will shut out of heaven: uncleanness, idolatry, inordinate love of this world, drunkenness, etc. For the confirmation of his proposition, he proceedeth to the enumeration of the several sins destructive of salvation: which are not to be understood copulatively, but disjunctively: not as if he only who is guilty of all these shall miss of heaven, but he that lives in any one of these unrepented of; if he doth not forsake his wicked course of life, he shall never see the kingdom of God: whoever allows and tolerates himself in any one sin, is certainly in a state of damnation.-William Burket’s notes

“Know ye not, etc. By unrighteousness here you may understand what is opposed to strict integrity. The unrighteous, then, that is, those who inflict injury on their brethren, who defraud or circumvent others, who, in short, are intent upon their own advantage at the expense of injuring others, will not inherit the kingdom of God. That by the unrighteous here, as for example adulterers, and thieves and covetous, and revilers, he means those who do not repent of their sins, but obstinately persist in them, is too manifest to require that it should be stated. The Apostle himself, too, afterwards expresses this in the words employed by him, when he says that the Corinthians formerly were such The wicked, then, do inherit the kingdom of God, but it is only in the event of their having been first converted to the Lord in true repentance, and having in this way ceased to be wicked. For although conversion is not the ground of pardon, yet we know that none are reconciled to God but those who repent. The interrogation, however, is emphatic, for it intimates that he states nothing but what they themselves know, and is a matter of common remark among all pious persons.” –John Calvin

“The unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom – The unrighteous, αδικοι , those who act contrary to right, cannot inherit, for the inheritance is by right. He who is not a child of God has no right to the family inheritance, for that inheritance is for the children. If children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ, Ro 8:17. There are here ten classes of transgressors which the apostle excludes from the kingdom of God; and any man who is guilty of any one of the evils mentioned above is thereby excluded from this kingdom, whether it imply the Church of Christ here below or the state of glory hereafter.

Several of the evils here enumerated will not bear to be particularly explained; they are, however, sufficiently plain of themselves, and show us what abominations were commonly practiced among the Corinthians.”-Adam Clark

“…their tricking and defrauding of one another, with other sins they were guilty of; which, if not repented of, would show, that notwithstanding their profession, they were destitute of the grace of God, were unfit to be in the kingdom of God, in a Gospel church state here below, and would be shut out of the kingdom of heaven hereafter.” –John Gill

“He puts it to them as a plain truth, of which they could not be ignorant, that such sinners should not inherit the kingdom of God. The meanest among them must know thus much, that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God (1Co 6:9), shall not be owned as true members of his church on earth, nor admitted as glorious members of the church in heaven. All unrighteousness is sin; and all reigning sin, nay, every actual sin committed deliberately, and not repented of, shuts out of the kingdom of heaven.” –Matthew Henry

“And he presses the point that they were to cherish no illusions as to this, for none of the characters pointed to in verse 9 and 10 should ever dwell with God.”-Georg Williams

“Those who practice such sins are not Christians.”- William McDonald

“The kingdom of God. Cannot be saved; cannot enter into heaven. Cmt. on Mt 3:2. This may refer either to the kingdom of God in heaven, or to the church on earth–most probably the former. But the sense is the same essentially, whichever is meant. The man who is not fit to enter into the one, is not fit to enter into the other. The man who is fit to enter the kingdom of God on earth, shall also enter into that in heaven.”- Albert Barns

Powder Puff Christians

November 6, 2015 by Ken Blue

Dr. Blue declares rightfully that a “Soft society makes for soft Christians.”

Soft Christians
Never should a Christian put their trust in the government (Amos 6:1).  They should always put their trust in God else they become like those of Sodom (Ezekiel 16:49).  With an abundance of idleness comes a lack of grace which is manifested in many ways.

The average Christian wants an easy Christian walk with the Lord.  They would like everything to be wonderful all of the time, but that is not the true Christian walk.  Jesus walked a road of adversity that many soft Christians shy away from, and when they do, they are shying away from Christ.

The purpose for adversity is to prepare the Christian for more adversity.  Every Christian will be confronted with adversity sooner or later.  The soft Christian will turn away from it as fast as they can, and therefore not grow in Christ likeness.

For some reason, young people have developed this idea that when you get old, then you can grow up and live for God.  They neglect to think of the difficulties that an old saint has to deal with; things that they can so easily do in their youth.  The adversity of their youth has prepared them to live a life as an hardened soldier for the Lord during their time of greater adversity.  If they have developed well when they were young in the Lord, then they will have a much easier time serving the Lord in their old age.  But, if they have not faced adversity in their youth, then they often fall away.  Mostly they fall into some form of Christian facade like ministry, or they will back slide altogether.

Start living your life for God NOW!  Don’t become a soft Christian. You may not make it!

God’s Courtroom

October 30, 2015 by Ken Blue

God's courtroomSomeday we’ll all be brought into God’s courtroom.  We will all answer for our crimes–SIN!

God is the judge of all the universe.  The Bible says that we must all give an account to God (Romans 14:12).  God is the righteous judge.  He will not let sin go unpunished.

For 6000 years, man has passed judgment upon God.  Most of the time man’s judgment on God is based on feelings or prejudice.  God will not so do.  The time will come when God will pass judgment upon man and His judgment will be based on facts alone.

Witnesses will be brought forward to testify either for us or against us.  The vast majority of these witnesses will testify against us.  In doing so, they will reveal the secrets that we thought we had so well hidden.

The witnesses will not be other people.  They will be witnesses such as: conscience, opportunity and sermons.

Dr. Blue does an excellent job of painting a picture of God’s courtroom for you to see. You can easily imagine being there as you listen to this short AUDIO SERMON.

This is one of the best sermons ever preached. It is a classic. If it doesn’t move you, then something is deeply wrong with your life.

BOOK: Galatians: Discovering Your Freedom in Christ

June 5, 2015 by Ken Blue

Galatians
Galatians: Discovering Your Freedom in Christ

This commentary on Galatians shows the uniqueness of Paul’s Apostleship and his gospel. Dr. Blue proves that salvation could never be attained by the works of the Law, and that men were declared righteous by faith long before there was a Jewish nation, the Law or the temple.

The book of Galatians is the most helpful book in the Bible concerning the freeness of our salvation and our liberty in Christ. Every religion on earth, except Biblical Christianity, teaches that works are necessary for eternal life. Galatians was written to correct that very error. Dr. Ken Blue shows from Paul’s letter that salvation was a free gift hundreds of years before there ever was a Jewish nation or the Ten Commandments. The reader will see that all believers are free from the Law and are to walk in the perfect law of liberty in Christ.

The Law was given to reveal the true condition of the human heart. It was not given as a means of salvation. When Jesus Christ died, the Law was nailed to the cross with Him and its demands were fulfilled. All who accept the death; burial and resurrection of Christ for their sins are forever delivered from the curse of the Law and are made FREE in Christ. Paul admonishes the Galatians and all believers to “stand fast” in that liberty and not return to the bondage of the Law.
Every believer should read this book; especially new Christians!

ONE OUT OF TEN AIN’T BAD

One out of Ten Ain’t Bad

https://kenblueministries.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/10/I-BEEN-SAVED-2014_04_14-09_16_02-UTC2.m4a

One out of ten“And Jesus answering said, Were there not ten cleansed? but where are the nine? There are not found that returned to give glory to God, save this stranger.” Luke 17:17-18

In the early days of my ministry I invited people to church, and they looked me straight in the eye and said, “I’ll see you Sunday.” If I got ten promises, I expected ten people. I soon discovered that most people do not keep their commitments. Since I had no way of knowing who would come, my only option was to raise the odds; I would get more promises.

Some pastors are disappointed when they count the meager returns. But don’t despair, if you get ten professions and one returns, you are doing as good as Jesus did. The way to raise the returns is to raise the professions. I would rather have ten returns out of a hundred than one out of ten.

[pullquote align=”right” cite=”” link=”” color=”” class=”” size=””]The way to raise the returns is to raise the professions.[/pullquote]

Remember, no one knows who really get’s saved. We don’t know how and when the Holy Spirit is working in the heart of another. Don’t let the fear of picking “green fruit” or the possibility of getting a “still birth” keep you from winning people to Jesus. There are three parts to winning people to Christ.

# 1. Your part: get them to trust Jesus.
# 2. Their part: trusting Him.
# 3. God’s part: saving them.

If you only get one out of ten, it ain’t bad.
