THE EMMAUS WAY

June 10, 2013 by Ken Blue

emmaus road

By Ken Blue

We were on the road, just the two of us,
To a local village called Emmaus.
We were troubled and confused, as we walked.
A stranger drew near, and joined as we talked.

He inquired as to why, we were so downcast.
Have you heard of events, just three days past?
Jesus of Nazareth was crucified.
With Him, all our hopes for Israel died.

Some women were early at Jesus’s tomb
His body had been stolen; they did assume.
But, an angel told them, when they arrived,
He is risen, and that He was alive.

Then the stranger, rebuked our unbelief,
And showed us Scriptures, dispelling our grief.
Understanding came, as he told the story,
How Christ must die, and then enter glory.

From Moses, the prophets, and from the Psalms,
Truths once hidden; understanding now calms.
Searching the Scriptures, and you too will see,
The volume of the Book, is about Me.

Reaching the village, He would have gone on,
Constraining Him to stay, daylight was gone.
Abide with us, the disciples said to Him.
He went inside, and partook bread with them.

He blessed the bread; and He broke it that night.
Their eyes were opened; He vanished from sight.
We walk by faith, and not by sight today.
All became clear, on the Emmaus way.

THE PAIN OF A BROKEN HEART

May 20, 2013 by Ken Blue

suffering

By Ken Blue

This life is filled with pain; we’re plagued from the start

We seldom feel any pain, as that of a broken heart.

Many maladies are diagnosed; doctors do their part

But broken hearts go unseen on their medical chart

There’s the pain of loneliness, when a loved one departs

It leaves emptiness within, adding to sorrows darts

There’s the pain of a wasted life, once sin has done its part

Awareness that it can’t be fixed, adds misery to a broken heart

But, there’s comfort for our pain; a Physician’s mastered the art

Blood and water came from the side of One with a broken heart

Cast your cares, all on Him; He will take your part

He’s a history of helping those, who come with broken hearts

NOT FOR THE POTHEAD

May 3, 2013 by Ken Blue

pothead

By Ken Blue

(Enjoy the trip, if you’re a pothead)

This Is Not Written For The Pothead

He’s Incapable; His Brain Cells Are Dead

Pot’s His Escape Of A Life That’s Real

It’s All About How he would like to Feel

Its Sex, Drugs, Rock, And Rave

Let’s Get Smashed And Misbehave…

On Speed, and Weed, And Little E’s;

Let’s Get High And Talk To Trees…

Life’s A Trip, And Then You Die’

So Forget This World

And Let’s All Get HIGH‼!

Oh, There’s One Thing He Forgot To Say

After You Die, It’s Judgment Day

Yes, Enjoy Your Trip, Your Souls For Sale

The Price In Eternity, Is A Place Called HELL‼

So Enjoy Your Trip, And Talk To Trees

Then You’ll Be Stupid, Just Like these

(Someone else wrote the original second stanza.

I change it because of the vulgar words that were in it. )

THE INNER SANCTUM SECRET

April 23, 2013 by Ken Blue

BRAIN

By Ken Blue

Millions of worlds are unseen, each a ruler owns.

Each has a little king, defending their prized thrones.

Subjects are imaginary, but they do his will.

How he achieved all his fame, is a mystery still.

He debates his opponents; shadows on the floor.

He’s never lost an argument; kings must know more.

His phantom rivals, can never bring him down.

For he would no longer rule, he’d lose his stately crown.

These worlds sometimes collide, becoming best of friends.

But each remains solitary; no one enters in.

Who knows the deceit, or intent in each domain?

It’s a secret, as secure as Gibraltar’s fame.

Try hard as you may, there’s room for only one chair.

A lifetime of secrets, have accumulated there.

Misery is the king’s name, as he hides his private fears.

Bottles labeled “loneliness,” are filled with his tears.

But there’s One we know; Who into every kingdom sees.

To doors of blame and excuses, He holds the keys.

Be wise, oh ye kings, lay aside your temporal crown.

Give the King your throne, and kneel as He sits down.

All is rearranged; each chamber is filled with light.

The King Eternal is on the throne; it’s His by right.

All is transparent, there no secrets in His realm.

The inner sanctum’s open now, and ruled by Him.

YOUR EPITAPH?

January 31, 2013 by Ken Blue

tombstone

By Ken Blue

When life is over, and it will be soon,

What will be the epitaph on your tomb?

Was your life a waste, breathing in and out?

Was self-gratification what it’s about?

Were you like an animal, with only three drives?

Was it reproduction, comfort, and food to survive?

Will you die like an animal with no legacy?

When the curtain is pulled, then, where will your soul be?

Did you hide in darkness, with fear and doubt,

Afraid to discover what life’s all about?

Did you drown your conscience with music’s blare,

Trying to please friends; their approval share?

Friends won’t go with you when you enter death.

Your soul will depart at your final breath.

He who has Christ Jesus, has eternal life.

He who has Him not, shall never see life.

“He that hath the Son hath life;

and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.” 1 John 5:.
