Once again we see the false claims from false prophets that trouble many believers. The new sensationalism about the end is a “so called” prophecy that the last Pope would be black, that it the Catholic Church will end, the Tribulation will begin, and end of the time for judgment will come.
You would think by now, with the list of false prophets on hand, that God’s people would wise up. We have Nostradamus, Jean Dixon, Emmet Fox, Joseph Smith, Mary Baker Eddy, Ellen G. White, Y2K, Harold Camping, and now the myth about a black Pope. Even if a pope is black, it will not matter.
Here is the, “supposed” prophecy of St. Malachy, a medieval Irish priest, and Kabbalist. St. Malachy had written about the 112th pope:
- “In the final persecution of the Holy Roman Church there will reign Peter the Roman, who will feed his flock amid many tribulations, after which the seven-hilled city will be destroyed and the dreadful Judge will judge the people. The End.”-The Cleveland Leader.
Now, the Roman Catholic Church may install a black pope. But, I find nothing in Malachy’s prophecy about a black pope. Why should a Bible believing Christian believe a baby sprinkling, Mary worshiping, idolater? Also, the above “prophecy” is so vague, it can be interpreted a dozen different ways.
Many argue that the Antichrist must be a Jew. Jews would not accept anyone as Messiah who was not Jewish. If this is so, it rules out any pope, whether he be black or purple. Now, a pope might be the false prophet, however, I doubt that. But Scripture seem very clear that the Antichrist comes out of Syria.
Writers have spun all kinds of myths about a black pope. One should read the false prophecy several times, and you will discover it is not close to the spin many put on it. The word “black” does not appear.
Let not your heart be troubled. Many will sensationalize this subject for all they can get out of it. Jesus warned about the false prophets in Israel’s last days. Let not your heart be troubled, this will come and go as all the false prophets and their prophecies have.
